The Mayor of Kidderminster, Cllr Shazu Miah, had another busy month in July, attending a wide range of engagements both in Kidderminster and further afield.

From meeting residents and supporting local organisations to attending community events and civic engagements, the Mayor had the opportunity to meet new people, hear about the work taking place in different communities and show his support.

It has been a pleasure for the Mayor to take part in so many varied events and connect with people from across the local area and beyond.

Free Summer Holiday fun?! There are still places left!!

What is ‘The Big Town Tidy’?

On Tuesday the 18th of August, Kidderminster and Stourport come together during the summer holidays, to help you, help us keep our towns green, clean, and places to be proud of.

Participants will receive a short safety briefing before being provided with a litter picker, litter bag and bag ring.

From there, it’s over to you! 🫡

Plan your route through the town centre, a local park or another public space, collect a bag of litter and return to the venue knowing you’ve helped improve your community.

As a thank you for taking part, everyone who completes the challenge will receive:
-An official Community Champion Certificate
-A commemorative photograph with the Mayor
-Free tickets to a Kidderminster Harriers home game
-50% off a family show at Kidderminster Town Hall
-The chance to feature in our newsletter and on social media, celebrating the fantastic efforts of our local community

All participants in Kidderminster will receive a free Ice Lolly from The Courtyard By Savva

HELP US PREVENT FIRES IN OUR PARKS AND OPEN SPACES

With the current hot and dry weather, the ground and vegetation across our parks and open spaces are extremely dry, creating an increased risk of grass and vegetation fires.

We are asking everyone using our parks and open spaces to please take extra care and avoid the use of naked flames.

Please:

Do not discard ci******es, matches or other smoking materials onto the ground.

Do not light fires, bonfires or use disposable barbecues.

Take all litter home with you or place it in the appropriate bins.

Take extra care around dry grass, woodland, hedgerows and other vegetation.

If you see a fire or smoke, move away from the area and report it to the emergency services where appropriate.

A small spark or discarded cigarette can quickly start a fire in these conditions and potentially cause significant damage to our parks, wildlife and surrounding property.

Thank you for helping us keep our parks and open spaces safe for everyone.

Celebrating 50 Years: Kidderminster & Husum

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the official Twinning Charter between Kidderminster and Husum, half a century of friendship, cultural exchange and shared experiences!
To celebrate this special milestone, we’re delighted to invite you to the Celebration Concert:

What do the current drought and outbreaks of wildfire mean for our health, the economy and food security?

Kidderminster Town Council is hosting a screening of the film “People’s Emergency Briefing” on Monday 21st September in the Town Hall.

The film explores threats and solutions associated with climate change and nature loss. It features input from ten experts, initially delivered at a gathering of 1,200 politicians and leaders in Westminster Hall, under the title of the “National Emergency Briefing”. The event is also supported by Wyre Forest Green Alliance.

Hosted by Kidderminster Town Council and Wyre Forest Green Alliance.
