Our temporary lending library on the 2nd floor at Leeds Central Library is closed from today while we get our new ground floor space ready to open on 1 July. You can still reserve books and collect them from the desk on the ground floor.

Our temporary children's library and all other departments are open as usual during this time.

As part of Refugee Week, we've worked with Leeds Schools of Sanctuary to organise a Schools' Art Exhibition aligned with the Simple Act "Get Drawing and Painting", and inspired by this year’s theme of Courage.

Students thought about the resilience, determination and courage of people seeking safety to build more hopeful futures and achieve their dreams, as well as the courage of communities that recognise new arrivals as a strength and welcome them with openness, kindness and justice.

We’re delighted to display some inspiring work by students from St. Margaret’s C of E Primary School, St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Co-op Academy Priesthorpe, Kirkstall St. Stephen’s C of E Primary School, Abbey Grange C of E Academy School, Alder Tree Primary Academy and Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School.

You can see the art at Horsforth, Farsley, Headingley, the Reginald Centre and Moor Allerton Community Hubs and Libraries throughout this week.
