✨️ Today we're celebrating Michelle's silver anniversary as 25 years ago yesterday she joined Leeds Libraries ✨️

Her 25 years have been filled with community work, incredible events, and dedication. We couldn't be more lucky to have her at SLS 📚❤️

Today we've been traveling through time with the delightful Saviour Pirotta at Rothwell St Marys and Adel St John's! Saviour gave the children some insight into his writing process and what life is like as an author, hopefully inspiring the next generation of literary talent 📚❤️

Thank you so much to Bloomsbury Educational for helping us bring these events for free and The Little Bookshops for their support with bookselling

What's this? A rare Saturday post from Leeds SLS?

🧠❤️Today is and we couldn't let this awareness day go by without flagging the amazing resources we have on offer to help children understand their mental health. This year's theme looks to real life inspirations to demonstrate that mental health is one aspect of your life - not the be all and end all - so we've put together a collection showcasing the real-life stories and the fictional characters we find comfort in 📚

❓Want to get your hands of these books? Email or DM us and we'll be more than happy to help ⭐

October is the start of the Halloween season so SLS will be showcasing all the spooky stories we've enjoyed and are enjoying this month! ☠️😱

To start, we have Katherine who picked up Soul Feeder by Jennifer Killick - a mysterious chiller with supernatural stakes. This one she definitely won't be reading in the dark 🕯️

And to make it better, it's dyslexia-friendly which makes it the perfect title to round out 📚❤️

is all about shining a light on history often overshadowed and this year we launched a project to highlight a Leeds Legend:

🏫An education reformer
✊An anti-racist activist
👩‍🏫Leeds first Black Headteacher

Of course, it's the one and only Gertrude Paul

For Black History Month, subscribing schools are able to request a FREE class set of The Life and Legacy of Gertrude Paul that we created with another Leeds Icon Salomey Doku to be collected from our site 📚❤️

⭐Interested? All you've got to do is send us an email! While availability lasts. ⭐

Thank you so much to The Little Bookshops for helping with bookselling as well as and Guppy Books for
helping these wonderful events happen ❤️📚

At SLS, it's our job to ensure that reading is accessible to everyone and this we're highlighting some of the great dyslexia-friendly titles we offer as part of our Fiction collection!📚⭐

We also include dyslexia-friendly titles in our mixed fiction boxes, class readers, and non-fiction boxes to ensure no one is excluded from the joy of reading.
