We are incredibly proud that Compass foster parents have taken part in Fostering in Colour — a powerful new documentary exploring the experiences of Black and Global Majority foster parents across the UK.

The documentary looks at the motivations, challenges and triumphs of foster parents, while highlighting why representation and cultural understanding are so important for children and young people in care.

Our foster parents share their experiences openly and honestly, helping to raise awareness and encourage more people from diverse backgrounds to consider fostering.

Compass Community CEO Stacy Wallace said:
“For children in care, feeling seen, understood and genuinely valued is not a ‘nice to have’ - it’s fundamental.”

A huge thank you to Anji, Andrew Daniels and Ferduse for sharing your stories and experiences.

Our Foster Parents in our South and North Wales regions hosted brunches to celebrate Foster Care Fortnight and reflect on what fostering means to them.

Our Compass Fostering team joined Sharon, Stephen, Nicola, Norman, Jack, David, Julie, Juliet, Aimi, Jenna, Kirsty, Debbie, Natalie for brunch. Each of our carers received an orchid thank you basket with candles, chocolates, a framed photo and a keyring to show how amazing they are!

Sharon kindly shared the following feedback with the Compass team afterwards:

"Hi Hellen and all at compass,

Thank you for the breakfast yesterday it was lovely and I laughed out loud on my return journey home at some of the conversation had."

Sharon also shared a beautiful poem she has penned specifically for children in her care who have a love of poetry – it beautifully showcases her approach and dedication as a Foster Parent.

Could you be the person who changes everything for a child?

Some people think about fostering for years. Others simply haven't had the right information yet.

We've put together a brand new guide — "A Place to Belong" — to answer your questions, ease your worries, and show you exactly what fostering with Compass looks like.

Inside you'll find real stories from our foster parents, the different types of fostering explained, what financial support is available (typically over £2,000/month), and what happens after you make an enquiry.

Exam season can be stressful for any young person — but for children in foster care, revision and exams can bring additional feelings of anxiety, overwhelm and pressure.

Whether it’s SATs, GCSEs, A-Levels or college exams, foster parents play an incredibly important role in helping young people feel safe, supported and emotionally regulated during this time.

At Compass Community, therapeutic approaches such as PACE — Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy — help carers build trust and connection, even during high-pressure periods like exams.

Here are five ways you can support your young people through exam season.
