🎺 HOUSEHOLD DIVISION MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR 2026 FINALIST

Representing the Band of the Welsh Guards, we are delighted to introduce Musician Booker, one of this year’s finalists.

An accomplished trumpet player, Musn Booker studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he was awarded the RCAM Bursary. Before joining RCAM in September 2024, he served with the Band of The Royal Welsh in the Army Reserve, performing across Europe at events including Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Italy and the Düsseldorf and ’s-Hertogenbosch Tattoos.

For the final, Musn Booker will perform Carmen Fantasie by Herman Bellstedt, arranged by Gareth Trott.

🇨🇦🏇 Let the Music Begin! 💂🎵

After getting settled here at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, the Band has already begun entertaining the crowds.

One of our smaller ensembles, ‘The Cordless Jukebox’, took to the stage performing hits such as; Elton John’s ‘I’m Still Standing’, ‘Mr Brightside’ by The Killers and Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5’.

London to Calgary. This one is big. 🇬🇧

His Majesty’s Band of the Welsh Guards is flying across the Atlantic for the ‘Masters’.

The same Band whose official duties include the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace will perform live at Spruce Meadows throughout the week.

Then Friday night: the International Ring, the Welsh Guards playing live and fireworks overhead for TELUS Evening of the Horse.

A London tradition, brought all the way to Calgary for the ‘Masters’.

🇨🇭Basel Tattoo 2026 🎵

In July, Lance Sergeants Chau & Fox and Lance Corporal Boyd performed at the Basel Tattoo 2026 alongside our colleagues from Band of the Scots Guards and Band of the Irish Guards. Throughout the two weeks, they have met cast members from different countries, cultures and art disciplines, and have inspired eachother throughout rehearsals, the community engagement day and also when travelling in Switzerland together.

Our musicians are proud to have represented the United Kingdom on the international stage and engaged with international artists whilst promoting British Army Music and the UK’s heritage.

Featuring two members from the Band of the Welsh Guards, Sgt Milne and LSgt Salmon, the wind dectet and double bass performed the Pan Suite by Max Brauer.

🇬🇧Landmark Collaboration in Military Music🎷

Recently, LCpl Bouchard took part in the inaugural performances of a newly formed Inter-Service Saxophone Quartet, bringing together musicians from RAF Music and the Bands of the Household Division.

Performing two concerts at Charlton House and Regent Hall, the quartet presented an advanced programme featuring works by David Maslanka, Thierry Escaich, Jan Morthenson and Camille Saint-Saëns.

These concerts marked the ensemble's first public performances and represented one of the first collaborative chamber music projects of its kind between different branches of the UK Armed Forces, organised by LSgt Boyd from the Band of the Scots Guards. The initiative showcased not only exceptional musicianship but also the strength of cooperation and shared excellence across military music. We congratulate LCpl Bouchard and all the musicians involved on a successful and historic musical partnership.

The band has been busy today providing musical entertainment for the crowds at the Guards Polo Club, supporting the final of the annual Cartier Queen’s Cup.
