Mayor of Waltham Forest and Cabinet Members Visit Faizan-e-Islam London Centre

Faizan-e-Islam London Centre was pleased to welcome the Mayor of Waltham Forest, Cllr. Marcelo Hart-Camus, together with
Cllr. Charlotte Lafferty, Cabinet Member for Community Safety,
Cllr. Chante Johnson, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy,
Cllr. Sarah Bentley, Cabinet Member for Climate and Air Quality.

During the visit, the Mayor and Cabinet Members met with Shaykh Ghulam Rabbani and discussed the work of Faizan-e-Islam and matters of importance to the local community.Mr Iftikhar Latif and Mr Farouk were also present at the meeting.

Come and join The Hive for the launch of their brand new nature area in a newly refurbished woodland area in Langthorne Park.

This session has been part funded by the National Lottery Community Fund to improve access to green spaces in Leytonstone, particularly the Cathall and Cann Hall wards.

Families from these areas or who go to school locally are specifically invited to attend.

Families from the Cann Hall and Cathall areas are especially encouraged to join! Bring the whole family, learn new outdoor skills, and make a real difference to your local environment.

• Wednesday 5 August: 10am to 11.30am
• Friday 21 August: 10am to 11.30am
• Friday 21 August: 1pm to 2.30pm

On Saturday we held our ward surgery - thank you to everyone who came along and spoke with us.

We spoke to a number of residents about important local issues, including housing, street accessibility, parking and more!

Our ward surgery will take place on the first Saturday of every month, from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Cann Hall Baptist Church.

We’re are still working out the logistics to hold some floating surgeries, so we can make sure we’re reaching residents in every part of the ward. More details to follow.

Meet Cllr Demetrius Williams the Chair of the Waltham Forest Pension Committee.

Marking his first Pensions Committee meeting as chair last night, he's already getting started: he's formally requested and received Waltham Forest's full pensions holdings, and he's meeting London CIV, the pooling company who manage all London councils' pension funds, in August.

Our local public money should not be funding human rights abuses overseas. We will publish a clear divestment roadmap and work with other London councils to push for a new values-aligned pension fund from the Collective Investment Vehicle (CIV).
