GLF is an independent family-run and child-focused agency with a personal approach. We have supported our foster carers and children for over 20 years, with the child being at the forefront of everything we do.

We know that children do best when they have stability, understanding and adults who are there for them. Our role is to give foster carers the training and support they need to make that possible.

There is no one single type of foster carer. You can be single, live in a rented property, be LGBTQ+, have pets or no professional childcare experience. We consider the whole person, and the whole household.

Fostering doesn’t mean doing it alone. When you become a foster carer, you become a part of a small team that focuses around the child you are fostering. You are the person in that team who knows the child. There will be the child’s social worker, your supervising social worker, the child’s school, a GP, sometimes CAMHS.

At GLF, our supervising social workers know the foster family, not just their file.

Many of our foster families began their journey with a nervous phone call and unsure whether they were suitable. Save this post for when you’re ready to ask questions about being a foster carer.

This week, over 200 fostering families went to .uk and what a great day it was!
