As summer holidays come to an end, many NHS staff and public sector colleagues have enjoyed a well-earned break.

Unfortunately, fraudsters don't take annual leave.

Holiday periods can create opportunities for fraud. Individuals may be booking travel, accommodation, and activities online, making them more susceptible to phishing emails, fake booking websites, and payment scams. At the same time, organisations often operate with reduced staffing levels, creating pressures that can make unusual transactions, requests, or behaviours less likely to be challenged.

Whether you're planning a holiday or covering for a colleague, now is the time to remain vigilant. Taking a few extra moments to verify information, follow established controls, and question anything that doesn't seem right can make a significant difference.

Protecting NHS resources is everyone's responsibility, all year round.
