Positioning Kenya as a Premier Investment Destination 🇰🇪🇬🇧
The Kenya High Commissioner to the UK, H.E. Maurice Makoloo, held strategic engagements in London to advance Kenya–UK trade, investment, and diaspora partnerships.
Discussions with DMA focused on deepening investor-led collaboration and promoting KIICO 2026 as a gateway to high-impact opportunities in Kenya and across Africa. DMA agreed to partner with the Kenya High Commission in London to expand outreach to investors.
In a separate meeting with the Commonwealth Enterprise & Investment Council, talks centred on unlocking Commonwealth networks to drive green growth and scale investments in priority sectors including energy, manufacturing, agritech, and startups.
The High Commissioner also hosted the Eastern Africa Association, reaffirming commitment to stronger UK–Kenya economic cooperation, including plans for a joint business roundtable.
Engagements with diaspora leaders highlighted wellbeing, investment opportunities, youth empowerment initiatives, and collective efforts to share the .

An impactful week advancing Kenya’s diplomatic, environmental and multilateral priorities. The High Commission deepened partnerships on global leadership, peace and security, ocean action, biodiversity conservation and Commonwealth cooperation.

From strategic engagements with the Global Leadership Foundation, to co-hosting a high-level briefing with World Resources Institute ahead of the 11th Our Ocean Conference which Kenya will proudly host 16–18 June 2026, the first time in Africa,Kenya continues to lead with clarity and conviction.

At IPBES-12 in Manchester, Kenya reaffirmed its advocacy for science-based, inclusive and people-centred solutions, championing sustainable development pathways that balance economic growth with environmental stewardship.

Kenya’s global leadership is growing and the ambition is clear.

From strengthening multilateralism at the Commonwealth Secretariat, advancing the Kenya–UK Strategic Partnership at and sustaining momentum on global climate action, to amplifying Africa’s collective voice and shaping authentic narratives about the continent at Chatham House.
High Commissioner Amb. Makoloo reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to inclusive multilateralism, climate leadership, youth inclusion and Africa’s agency on the global stage.

An engaging week concluded on a high note for the new High Commissioner Amb Maurice Makoloo, who paid courtesy calls on fellow Heads of Mission H.E. Mbelwa Kairuki, High Commissioner of the Republic of Tanzania and H.E. Johnstone Busingye, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda. The engagements provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on collaboration with the United Kingdom, while reflecting on the future of the UK–Africa Partnership and socio-economic and political collaboration within the Commonwealth.

The High Commission, led by Amb. Maurice Makoloo and joined by the Education Attaché, Mr Willie Machocho, together with colleagues, hosted twenty-four (24) Commonwealth Scholars from the 2025/2026 cohort at the Kenya High Commission London.

In his remarks, the High Commissioner congratulated the scholars who are undertaking Master’s and PhD programmes across diverse fields of study and encouraged them to serve as ambassadors of Kenya, fostering cultural understanding and strengthening people-to-people links during their academic journey.

The twenty-four scholars form part of the growing number of beneficiaries supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office under the Commonwealth Scholarship Programme. This initiative continues to play a vital role in strengthening mutual partnerships, advancing socio-economic development, facilitating skills and knowledge transfer and contributing to national development outcomes in both countries, while enriching the global pool of talent and leaders.

Today, H.E. Maurice Makoloo presented copies of his credentials to Eleanor Mackewn, Assistant Marshal , thereby formally assuming his duties as High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to the Court of St James’s.

Earlier in the day, the High Commissioner met with Mission staff to outline the strategic priorities for the year ahead, aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Agenda, with a strong focus on strengthening economic ties with the United Kingdom a longstanding partner of over six decades.

Additionally, he underscored the Mission’s commitment to strengthen engagement with Kenya’s second-largest diaspora worldwide.

The Mission represented by Trade Attaché and Minister Counsellor joined a delegation of women-led fashion and lifestyle enterprises under the SheTrades Commonwealth+ (STC+) Programme, proudly representing 🇰🇪 Kenya at 2026.

Kenyan brands including Wazawazi, JEILO Collections, Zanta Adeyde, Mambo Pambo World, Mubi Leather, Afroccessories Co. & Kisasa Weavers showcased export-ready apparel, leather goods, jewellery, textiles, accessories and home décor.

Their work blends contemporary African design with ethical, sustainable production, empowering women, youth and artisan communities across Kenya.

The Mission remains committed in supporting and championing apparel industry inline with the gov’t agenda to transform the sector into a major manufacturing and export driver, aligning with Vision 2030 and Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) goals.
