A busy few days for the Lydiate & Maghull Community Independents. From the MAC Councillor Surgery on Saturday to working from the Independents' new room at Bootle Town Hall today (Could do with a lick of paint).

Today Cllrs from Maghull East and Lydiate & Maghull West spent several hours meeting with leadership from the local NHS Integrated Care Board on our manifesto pledge to build community representation to improve health, wellbeing and social care in L31. Some exciting progress today, with opportunities to build local forums and representation.

Cllrs also met with the Managing Director and Technical Director of a local development company to discuss what newbuild housing estates should look like in our area and what the newly formed residents groups from the area have asked for from developers.

We're proud that less than a month in office, we've delivered our pledge to introduce local surgeries, work on improvements for our health offering locally and get a better deal for residents with community groups and representation.

Less than 4 weeks in and it feels like we're making real progress. We just need the Changing Rooms Team to visit our Bootle Office for a revamp next. We found some weird and wonderful items in our new home. Seems it's been a while since Independents have been in power locally 😂

Thank you Maghull Cricket Club for the invitation along yesterday. Cllr Crompton, Cllr McCall and Cllr Leatherbarrow called along yesterday on a glorious Saturday afternoon and were blown away by the facilities, turnout and support of local fans. What an absolute gem to have in the heart of our town. We hope to work with MCC on future projects and initiatives in the area, watch this space.

A huge thank you to everyone at Carla Lane Animals in Need Liverpool for inviting Maghull East Councillors Joanne McCall and David Leatherbarrow along for a visit this week. It was brilliant to see first-hand the incredible work being done to care for and rehome animals across our area. The dedication of the staff and volunteers is genuinely inspiring. 🐾

We’d also like to help spread the word about some of their upcoming events:

🐶 FUN DOG SHOW
Sunday 7th June
Lydiate Parish Hall, Southport Road, L31 4EQ
1pm–4pm
£2 per class

There are lots of fun categories to enter and all proceeds help support the rescue. Online booking is now open, with further entries available on the day.

🎉 BINGO FUNDRAISER
Friday 29th May
Melling Ratepayers Club, Waddicar Road, Melling
12pm–3pm
£10 all in, including bingo books, raffle tickets, Irish bingo, tea, coffee and cake.

They’ll also be collecting dog and cat food donations on the day for the animals in their care.

We’re really looking forward to working with Carla Lane Animals in Need more closely in the near future and supporting the fantastic work they do within our community. Please support them if you can. 🐶🐱
