Final day of Let's fish, FREE fishing coaching for young people in Maghull & Lydiate.

The pictures speak for themselves. Thank you to everybody who took part.

What a wonderful week it's been. We're holding one final competition day in September, but for now I'd like to thank Jonny Spencer, John Ellis & Ant Henthorn from the Canal and River Trust, Cllr Crompton, Cllr McCall, Cllr Hart, Cllr Nixon, Cllr Stoddart & Sefton Council.

This is the start of our LifeSkills projects and future initiatives encouraging our Next Gen Maghullians & Lydiate Little Ones to embrace the natural environment which surrounds our wonderful area.

Residents of the River Estates, Maghull East recently raised concerns about MUTANT sized weeds growing along the pavement and kerbsides.

We've had Sefton out to treat the area and asked for a second go at the areas that were missed due to parked vehicles or need another treatment.

Sometimes it's the small things that make a difference. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. 🫡

A positive step forward — but what do you think?

Tonight we’re asking residents to have their say on an interesting opportunity for the future of Maghull Town Hall.

Maghull Town Council has agreed for officers to continue discussions with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) about the potential for the Town Hall site to become a Neighbourhood Health Centre. The ICB has identified Maghull as one of its priority locations for potential future healthcare provision.

Nothing has been decided, and this is still very much at the discussion and exploration stage. But could this be an opportunity to create a modern health, wellbeing and community hub right here in Maghull?

We think it’s important to explore every option — but, equally, residents should have a voice in what happens next.

👉 Would you support the Town Hall site being considered for a new Neighbourhood Health Centre?

What would you like to see included? And do you think this is the right location?

Watch our short video and let us know what you think in the comments.

After the interest in the Solar eclipse and the recent spate of heat waves, we reached out to Liverpool Astronomical Society to see if they could host a family event to to learn more about THE SUN ☀️

We're hosting an event on 30th August late afternoon and tickets will be available by this weekend.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening of stargazing last year and the tickets flew out.

Astronomers will host the event, talking participants through our nearest star and specialist telescopes will be set up outside to view solar flares and sub spots.

We hope this breaks up the summer holidays for our young residents and have other activities planned.

More details coming soon.

Venue: Lydiate Parish Hall
Time: 3-5pm

No equipment necessary, as all will be provided.

🚗♻️ Maghull residents, this one is worth five minutes of your time if you use the local Tip!

The Merseyside Recycling & Waste Authority (MRWA) is consulting on proposed changes to Household Waste Recycling Centres.

The proposals include booking a time slot, proof of address, annual visit limits and changes to how mixed waste is accepted.

So please have your say through the official consultation, which opens tomorrow.

The consultation runs from 11 August to 22 September 2026.

👉 Have your say (live from Tuesday 11th Aug): www.merseysidewda.gov.uk/hwrc-consultation

These are proposals only. No decisions have been made. The whole point of the consultation is to hear from residents about what works, what doesn’t and what needs to be considered.

If you use our local recycling centres, please take a few minutes and have your say. ♻️ — in Maghull.
