Firstly, congratulations to Cllr John Leech on his re-election.

This was the first time I’ve stood for election, and it’s been a privilege to have done so with Manchester Labour next to my name. I hope it won’t be the last. 🌹

I am deeply disappointed and hurt by the results in Manchester yesterday. However, the electorate are never wrong, and I’m grateful to every one of the 1,220 residents who did vote for me in Didsbury West.

I promised myself at the outset that I wouldn’t make a pledge I couldn’t deliver and would not say a word I did not believe, to chase a vote - promise kept.

To Dave - my election agent, Kathy, Godfrey, Tim OBrien, Councillor Debbie Hilal and to all of the members, friends, and volunteers who campaigned with and for me from last July until 9pm on Thursday night - thank you so much, you are the very best of the party.

Now………to spend some more time with my family.

In a world where bar charts are manipulated by political parties at the same time as asking residents to place their trust in them, here is the result of the last time Didsbury West went to the polls in a local election.

A vote for the Greens is a wasted vote, and a vote for a party who have not even bothered to turn up in this campaign or even communicate by letter or leaflet.

Time and time again, I’m told that I’m the only candidate who has turned up to speak with residents on the doorstep. The first rule of politics is to listen.

If you want change in Didsbury West, don’t vote for the incumbent but vote for me and Manchester Labour on Thursday - who are moving Manchester forward with hope and optimism - and a plan to make it even better.
