Today is Global Recycling Day! 🌍 ♻️ 💚

♻️ Global Recycling Day is a great opportunity to think about how we use and reuse materials in everyday life. Across Packington Estate, we’re always looking for ways to reduce waste, recycle more effectively, and make responsible choices that help protect our environment.

Spring is beginning! Have you spotted any of these changes in nature yet?

🌸 Wood anemone flower is one of the first spring blooms, arriving to take in the light through the leafless canopy in broadleaf woodland.
🩵 Cuckoo flower and bluebell will begin to bloom at the end of April, adding to the riot of seasonal colour of spring.
🌱 Tree leaves and flowers are unfurling, with ash, beech, oak and rowan tree buds starting to burst.
🍃 First leaves are emerging from alder, field maple and silver birch trees

From blooming bluebells to longer days, this season reminds us of the constant change and beauty of nature 🌷

It’s World Wildlife Day! 🌍 🐄 🦌

We’re incredibly proud to care for a range of animals here on the Estate, each playing an important role in conservation, heritage, and the health of our ancient landscape. Here’s what you need to know about our residents:

🐷 Tamworth Pigs: our Tamworths are a true heritage treasure! As one of just seven breeds listed as ‘priority’ by Rare Breeds Survival Trust, we’re helping protect their future and celebrating a special part of Britain’s farming history.

🐄 Longhorn Cattle: Our Longhorn cattle are key to our sustainable habitat management, as their natural weight helps clear dense vegetation, and they’re fantastic seed dispersers, making them the perfect partners for conservation grazing.

🦌 Deer: our historic deer park is home to around 400 black (melanistic) fallow deer, roaming freely across 500 acres of ancient parkland. Although the park is enclosed, the herd is considered wild.

It is a privilege to care for these incredible animals and preserve the rich biodiversity of Packington Estate 💚

Did you know, being outdoors can trigger measurable changes inside your body, from lowering stress hormones, easing blood pressure, and even improving your gut health?

That’s why we’d rather be outdoors in nature than anywhere else! 🌲
