🚨 Sunset Tasking 🚨
At 21:34 as the sun was setting last night, the team were tasked to assist a casualty who had sustained an ankle injury whilst on board a local tour boat.
Working alongside colleagues from the North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, Coastguard Rescue Officers assessed the situation and logistics of extraction, and with some quick problem-solving and teamwork, safely transferred the casualty from the vessel and into the care of ambulance crews for further treatment and onward travel.
Incidents such as this highlight the value of effective multi-agency working and the ability to adapt to the unique challenges often presented by the coastal environment.
We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
NEVER worry about calling for help. If you get into difficulty in any way, or you think you see someone else in difficulty, along the coast on land, cliffs or in the sea, ALWAYS call the COASTGUARD by dialling 999.
