If you are a tenant in the private sector, your rights are changing:
- no more eviction notices for no valid reason
- no more fixed-term tenancies
- rent increases limited to once a year (with two months’ advance notice)
- you can ask to keep a pet
- homes must meet a basic decent standard

Are you a private landlord or letting agent?
The Government’s new Renters’ Rights Act has now come into force and means new responsibilities for you.

Landlords and letting agents have until 31 May to share the Renters’ Rights Act information sheet with their tenants. Failure to do this could lead to a £7,000 fine.
