💧 Drink plenty of water
🌞 Avoid the sun between 11am–3pm
🏠 Keep blinds closed and open windows in the early morning and evening
👵 Check on older neighbours, young children and anyone with health conditions

The housing system is broken 🏚️ and new rules risk making it worse.

Developers could deliver as little as 20% affordable housing with no explanation ❌

Right now, 10,500 Lewisham families are on the housing waiting list and 2,450 in temporary accommodation — all waiting for a secure, affordable home.

So we’re taking action ⚖️

Alongside Hackney and Tower Hamlets, with support from 4 other councils, we’re challenging the Mayor’s decision to push for more affordable homes, not fewer 🏗️

It's hot out there, Lewisham.

The Mayor shares advice on staying safe during the heatwave and highlights some of the ways we're supporting residents through the hot weather.

🌳 Need somewhere cooler to spend time? Our libraries are open as Cool Spaces.
💚 We're checking in on vulnerable residents who may need extra support.
🚛 Waste and recycling crews are starting collections earlier to help keep staff safe in the heat.

A few simple things can make a big difference:

👋 Check in on older neighbours, young children and anyone with health conditions.

High temperatures are forecast across parts of the UK this week, and many local authorities have activated SWEP to support people at risk during extreme weather.

If you see someone sleeping rough, don't assume someone else has reported it.
