MoFA ENGAGES POULTRY STAKEHOLDERS ON NEXT PHASE OF NKOKO NKETENKETE INITIATIVE
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has engaged key stakeholders in the poultry industry to review progress under the Nkoko Nketenkete Initiative and shape the next phase of its implementation.
The stakeholder meeting, held on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, brought together officials from MoFA, the Feed Ghana Secretariat, regional and district agricultural offices, the National Poultry Farmers Association and other actors across the poultry value chain.
Discussions focused on strengthening local poultry production, improving market access, reducing production costs and addressing implementation challenges.
Stakeholders also shared positive experiences from beneficiaries and proposed measures to make the initiative more effective and sustainable as it expands nationwide.
The recommendations from the engagement will inform the design and implementation of the next phase of the initiative, reaffirming MoFA’s commitment to building a stronger, competitive and sustainable poultry industry.

MOFA LAUNCHES GAFET
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has launched the Ghana Agricultural Fund for Education and Transformation (GAFET) to strengthen agricultural education, skills development, research and innovation.
Speaking at the launch on August 11, 2026, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, emphasised that Ghana’s agricultural transformation must be driven by well-trained and skilled human capital.
The Fund has mobilised an initial GH¢3.5 million from five agribusiness partners, with a target of GH¢10 million by December 2026 and GH¢100 million by 2028.
GAFET will support laboratories, workshops, demonstration farms, machinery, research, scholarships, internships and other practical training opportunities.
Investing in agricultural education today is investing in Ghana’s food-secure future.

CHRAJ TRAINS MOFA OFFICERS ON ETHICS AND INTEGRITY
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), in collaboration with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), has organised a two-day training on Code of Conduct, Ethics and Integrity for Directors and officers of the Ministry.
Held from 11–14 August 2026, the training focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of ethical leadership, asset declaration, conflict of interest, the Gift Policy and Ghana’s anti-corruption framework.
CHRAJ Commissioner, Mr. Joseph Akanjolor Whittal, urged public officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity and comply with their legal obligations, including the declaration of assets and liabilities.
Chief Director of MoFA, Mr. Paul Siameh expressed appreciation to CHRAJ for selecting the Ministry as one of the five institutions to benefit from the training. He urged participants to take the asset declaration process seriously and comply with the relevant requirements to avoid potential complications.
The training is part of efforts to promote accountability, transparency and ethical conduct within the Public Service.

GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES 100,000 HECTARES OIL PALM EXPANSION PLAN
At the National Oil Palm Forum organized by the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA) under the theme “From Policy to Practice: The Role of TCDA in Resetting Ghana’s Oil Palm Industry,” in Accra today, the Minister for Food and Agriculture Hon. Eric Opoku, announced plans to support 100,000 hectares of new oil palm plantations as part of efforts to increase domestic production, create jobs and reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported palm oil.
The Minister called for stronger collaboration among government, farmers, investors, financial institutions and other stakeholders to build a productive, inclusive and sustainable oil palm industry.
Hon. Opoku identified five key areas requiring immediate attention:
• Improving productivity and access to quality planting materials
• Strengthening smallholder participation
• Addressing land and financing constraints,
• Expanding processing and value addition
• Developing a traceable, inclusive and sustainable value chain.
From policy to practice, Ghana is resetting the oil palm industry for sustainable growth and greater economic opportunity.

MINISTRY OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURE RECEIVES 10 MOTORCYCLES FROM OBOYE AZIMAH
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has received 10 Apsonic motorcycles from Tamale-based company Oboye Azimah, as part of the company's contribution towards the 42nd National Farmers' Day Celebration.
Receiving the donation, Hon. Eric Opoku, Minister for Food and Agriculture, thanked the company and called on other organisations to support the sector in similar ways.
The CEO of the company, Mr. Imoro Abdul Razak, said the gesture reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to Ghana’s agricultural sector and pledged their continued support to the Ministry as the business grows.
