GNFS UNDERTAKE EDUCATIONAL TOUR OF TEMA OIL REFINERY
‎
‎Senior officers of the Agona Swedru Fire Station in the Central Region, led by the Municipal Fire Commander DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, undertook an educational tour of Tema Oil Refinery in Tema.
‎
‎The officers were taken through the refinery’s safety protocols, emergency response systems and production processes, with emphasis on industrial fire management and hydrocarbons. The visit was described as valuable in strengthening the officers’ knowledge and preparedness for industrial emergencies.

‎GNFS SENSITIZES TAKORADI FOOD VENDORS ON FIRE PREVENTION
‎
‎Officers from the Market Circle Fire Post in Takoradi have educated food vendors at the New Market on fire prevention and safety practices.
‎
‎The team demonstrated proper management of cooking fires and urged vendors to ensure all fires are completely extinguished before leaving their workplaces. Traders were also advised to acquire fire extinguishers, avoid the use of unauthorized gas cylinders and coal pots, and promptly report fire emergencies to the Ghana National Fire Service.

‎The exercise forms part of GNFS efforts to reduce market fire outbreaks and promote safer trading environment.

GNFS RESPONDS TO HEAD-ON COLLISION AT TIPPER JUNCTION ALONG KASOA-WINNEBA ROAD, ONE DEAD
‎
‎The Ghana National Fire Service responded to a head-on collision involving a water tanker and a Toyota Voxy at Tipper Junction along the Kasoa–Winneba Road on Saturday, 15th August 2026.
‎
‎Firefighters from the Buduburam Fire Station rescued eight injured people and conveyed them to the Mother and Child Hospital in Kasoa for treatment. Unfortunately, one person later died.
‎
‎The Toyota Voxy sustained extensive damage to its engine compartment, while the water tanker was partially damaged. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

GNFS CONTAINS THREE FIRES IN GREATER ACCRA, SAVES ADJOINING STRUCTURES
‎
‎Firefighters in the Greater Accra Region have successfully contained three domestic fires at Kaneshie, Accra New Town and Labadi Wireless, preventing the flames from spreading to adjoining structures.
‎
‎At Kaneshie, the Industrial Area Fire Station extinguished a fire that destroyed a wooden structure and its contents, while firefighters salvaged the house and an adjoining building.
‎
‎At Accra New Town, Circle Fire Station contained a fire that destroyed one self-contained chamber and hall and their contents, but successfully saved four adjoining chambers and halls.
‎
‎At Labadi Wireless New Road, Trade Fair Fire Station, supported by Ministries and Accra City Fire Stations, battled a fire that destroyed four bedrooms and their contents. Firefighters successfully salvaged eight rooms and prevented further damage to adjoining buildings.
‎
‎No casualties were recorded in any of the three incidents, while the causes remain under investigation.

GNFS RESCUES TRAPPED DRIVER INVOLVED IN VEHICULAR ACCIDENT AT WATER FALLS JUNCTION

A distress call was received by the Municipal Commander, DOII Twum Prempeh Dominic, on Friday, 14th August 2026 at 1636hrs, reporting a vehicular accident along the Kintampo–Tamale Highway at Water Falls Junction. DPT No. FS 498, driven by STNOI Adu Clement with a crew of eight (8) and led by ASTNO Agyekum Emmanuel, was dispatched to the scene.

On arrival at 16:46hrs, the crew observed that a Shacman trailer with registration number GC 3825-19, loaded with packs of bottled drinks and travelling from Kumasi to Buipe, had been involved in an accident. The driver was found trapped inside the vehicle. The crew immediately assessed the situation and commenced rescue operations to extricate him.

After successfully freeing the victim, he was sent to the hospital for medical treatment. The scene was subsequently made safe, and the crew returned to the station after completing the rescue operation at 1827hrs.

GNFS INTENSIFIES FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION IN EASTERN REGION

The Asamankese Fire Safety Education Team, led by ADOI Tijani Osman, has concluded a four-day fire safety sensitization exercise in the Asamankese Township. Held from Monday, 10th to Thursday, 13th August 2026, the exercise focused on LPG safety, electrical fire prevention, evacuation procedures and basic home safety. Residents and commuters expressed appreciation to the team, describing the education as valuable in promoting fire prevention and safety awareness within the community.

In a related outreach, officers from the Begoro Fire Station sensitized staff of the Salvation Army Clinic, Begoro, on essential fire safety practices on 13th August 2026, led by ADOI Agyakwa, the District Safety Officer, the team took participants through the proper use of fire extinguishers, prevention and response to electrical fires, and safe handling of gas cylinders and appliances.

Staff were urged to maintain high safety standards and respond promptly to fire emergencies to protect lives and property. The exercises form part of the Ghana National Fire Service’s efforts to strengthen fire safety awareness and preparedness at workplaces and in communities across the region.

GNFS EASTERN REGION INTENSIFIES FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION ACROSS KWAHU TAFO, BEGORO AND ASAMANKASE

‎The Ghana National Fire Service has intensified fire safety education across the Eastern Region, with officers from Aduamoa, Begoro and Asamankese Fire Stations engaging residents, businesses and institutions on fire prevention and emergency preparedness.
‎
‎At Kwahu Tafo Nhyieɛso 1, Aduamoa Fire Officers educated residents and shop operators on electrical safety, avoiding overloaded sockets, proper storage of flammable materials and switching off appliances when not in use.
‎
‎At the Salvation Army Clinic in Begoro, fire officers educated staff on the proper use of fire extinguishers, electrical fire prevention and the safe handling of gas cylinders and appliances.
‎
‎Meanwhile, the Asamankese Fire Safety Education Team concluded a four-day sensitisation exercise covering LPG safety, electrical fire prevention, evacuation procedures and basic home safety. Residents and commuters welcomed the initiative and expressed appreciation for the education.

GNFS CONDUCTS A TWO DAY FIRE SAFETY EDUCATION FOR RAZ OIL PUMP ATTENDANTS
‎
‎The Wa Municipal fire safety team conducted a two day fire safety education programme for RAZ OIL fuel attendants within the municipality.
‎
‎The team led by ADO I James Anafo covered fire prevention, types and classes of fire, the proper use of fire extinguishers, LPG cylinder safety, fire causes and immediate prevention at the fuel stations and appropriate responses during emergencies.
‎
‎A total of 15 people participated in the practical firefighting demonstration, with emphasis on good housekeeping and maintaining safe working environments.
