How can we make space for art, whilst also supporting thriving communities?

Making Space for Art - Third Places and other innovative models from France, Ireland and the EU.

📍Where: Cork City
📆 When: Thursday 3rd December

👉Register for Free Now: MakingSpaceForArt.eventbrite.ie

Cork City Council Arts Office will host a symposium focused on ‘cultural third places’ (tiers lieux), a French model blending culture, creativity, work, social inclusion and urban regeneration.

Hear from cultural leaders from France and the EU representing places that harness innovative approaches to temporary use, adaptive reuse and regeneration to deliver cultural infrastructure and provide places and spaces where art, artists and communities can thrive.

The symposium will also include contributions from public policymakers on existing measures and opportunities for expanding creative community infrastructure in Ireland.

Designed for policymakers, planners, private sector stakeholders and arts and cultural operators, the event creates a platform for knowledge exchange and new thinking on the cultural infrastructure gap.

The Making Space for Art Symposium is presented in partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland and marks the pairing of Cork and France under the programme for Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Funded as part of the Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Devil is officially in the Dancehall 🎶

Once vibrant hubs of music, community and freedom, our dance halls came under fierce attack in the 1930s from church and state, who labelled them dangerous, immoral and “the devil’s work.”

Now, 90 years on, the dancers rebel again!
