Never Bin Vapes - Always Recycle for Free!♻️

When electricals containing hidden batteries and electrical parts like v**es are incorrectly disposed of in household bins - they can get crushed or damaged during waste processing, sparking dangerous fires in bin trucks and recycling centres.
Used v**es and e-cigarettes contain lithium batteries, electrical components and plastics and are therefore part of the free e-waste and battery take-back system.
Used v**e and cigarette recycling is simple and free through thousands of WEEE Ireland Blue Battery Boxes, located at supermarkets, newsagents, v**e retailers, electrical retailers and local authority recycling centres nationwide

UPDATE - BRAY HEAD

Fire crews from Bray and Greystones maintained a presence on Bray Head throughout yesterday, working to keep a large gorse fire under control. Operations were greatly assisted by the support of Wicklow Civil Defence and An Garda Síochána.

Crews remained on scene until 11pm, no further emergency call-outs were received overnight.

Bray Fire Service responded again this morning following reports of smoke in the area and will continue dampening-down operations as required. While the fire has been brought under control, some hotspots may continue to smoulder for a period.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the affected area and remain vigilant.

Wicklow County Fire Service would like to thank all agencies involved for their assistance and cooperation throughout this incident.

Wicklow County Council has been made aware of refuse/bulky waste collectors advertising on social media and calling door to door.

Remember, if you give your waste to an illegal collector, it may end up on the side of the road, and YOU can end up with a fine or conviction.

If you see an advertisement for a refuse or bulky waste collection on social media, please reply by asking for their permit number.

All Authorised collectors will carry a Waste Collection Permit and must have it displayed on their vehicle. Some unauthorised collectors advertise that they give you a receipt; however, a receipt is not a Waste Collection Permit.

Check if the waste collector is authorised at www.nwcpo.ie

In the interests of public health and safety, Wicklow County Council has erected an additional barrier (gate) on the Cliff Walk.

While the Walk has been closed to the public at both the northern (Bray) & Southern (Greystones) ends, it has come to the attention of the Council that members of the public continue to access the route via Cliff Manor on the Windgates Road.

Unfortunately circumventing the Walks closure in this manner brings the public into contact with a section of the route that has been undermined.

The section in question was inspected by the Councils appointed consultants, Tetra Tech, and assigned a risk category of "Unacceptable", they noted it as having "Previous recent instability with further unstable material identified on the slope. Remedial works required".

The Cliff Walk remains closed due to the significant safety concerns. An alternative route is available.
