đź“Ł Clothes Bank Closure Notice

Wicklow County Council wishes to advise the public that Liberty clothes banks are currently out of operation until further notice.

We ask members of the public not to leave clothing, bags or other items beside existing bottle banks or bring centres.

In the meantime, please consider donating unwanted clothing to your local charity shop or exploring other sustainable options.

Please be aware that leaving items beside clothes banks or at bring centres is considered illegal dumping and may result in a €250 fixed penalty fine.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation in helping to keep Wicklow clean and tidy.

⚠️ Greystones North Beach – Access Restrictions

Please be advised that access to Greystones North Beach is currently restricted while works are being carried out on the entrance ramps.

Visitors are asked to use alternative access routes during this time.

As Halloween celebrations draw closer, Wicklow County Council wish to remind householders and individuals who hand over their waste for bonfire purposes at Halloween that they will be liable for prosecution under the Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) Regulations 2009.

Waste includes household domestic rubbish, beds & mattresses, tyres, tables & chairs, carpets, washing machines, prams, garden waste, aerosol cans, t.v.’s, etc. The burning of these items causes toxic and dangerous pollutants to be created and emitted into the air we breathe which can have profound long-term health implications.

Please note: Wicklow Local Authorities will not carry out clean ups before or after bonfires and will not be responsible for the cost of any clean ups after bonfires.

Resurfacing works are scheduled to take place between M11 Junction 16 (Rathnew/Wicklow Town and Junction 18 (Wicklow South/Redcross),

📆 from Monday 2nd until Saturday 7th November 2026 .
Monday to Saturday (21:00 – 06:00).

Traffic management will be in place for the duration of the works,

Alternative Route:
M11 Southbound Junction 16 to M11 Junction 18

Exit the M11 southbound at Junction 16, at the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto R772. Continue to follow R772 for 900 meters. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit to stay on the R772. Continue to follow R772 for 1.6km. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit to stay on R772. Continue to follow R772 for 300 meters. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit to rejoin the M11 southbound at Junction 18.

Wicklow County Council wishes to advise that necessary resurfacing works are to proceed from Monday 16th November to Friday 02nd December 2026 for a three-week period along the R747 Regional Route from the Annacurra Junction to the Togher Junction.

A full roads closure will be in place for the duration of the works, with Local Access Only being provided.

A full road diversion will be in place during the duration. Wicklow County Council wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused during the duration of these works.

Wicklow County Council is delighted to announce that Abbey Grounds Park in Wicklow Town is reopening just in time for Halloween.

Bring your friends and family to explore the historic Abbey, enjoy the beautiful green spaces, get lost in the maze, and grab a treat at the new Rise Café.

The full park, including the Abbey ruins and amphitheatre, will be open this Friday afternoon, 30th October. Entry is free and everyone is welcome!
