Press Release
*SFI will not bow before the witch hunting of Delhi Police*
SFI All India Joint Secretary Com. Aishe, who was one among the leading student leaders of the recent wave of protests that resulted in the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan is subjected to witch hunting by the Delhi Police. At the onset of the deliberate actions by the state against the people associated with the Jantar Mantar protest, the Delhi Police tried to arrest Com. Aishe from AKG Centre today. Several people are facing the consequences of peacefully uniting in protest, in the form of repressions including arrests, false charges and attacks. Such forms of state repressions were reported from Patna, Kolkata, Guwahati, Kerala and other parts of the country.
This move reveals the intolerance of the Modi regime and the police force controlled by them against the voices of dissent. Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are replicating a Hi**er model of state governance by suppressing dissent and violating the basic rights of the citizens. Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation has only provoked the government further into taking revenge actions on the students and youth. This approach violates the basic idea of democracy and is an assault on the constitutional values guaranteed to the people of India.
SFI strongly condemns this move and opposes any attempt from Delhi Police and the Union Government to witch hunt and attack the students and citizens who led the protest. We stand concretely with our comrades and assert that students will resist such cowardly revenge mechanisms on the streets across the country.
