On 22 April 2026, the Central Academy for State Forest Service (CASFOS), Coimbatore, organized Earth Day celebrations on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet.” The programme comprised a poster-making competition, an address by the Principal, CASFOS highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship, and a prize distribution ceremony for the Photography Competition organized as part of World Wildlife Day (3 March). The events witnessed active participation from Officer Trainees of the SFS 2025–2027 Batch as well as faculty members. The celebrations reinforced the Academy’s collective commitment to conservation and sustainable practices.

On 9th April 2026, a Special Lecture on“Problems of Soils and Its Management” was organised for the Officer Trainees of the SFS 2025–27 Batch (31st Batch) at CASFOS, Coimbatore. The session was delivered by Dr. A.C. Surya Prabha, Scientist, Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding (IFGTB), Coimbatore. The lecture provided the trainees with a comprehensive understanding of various soilrelated challenges, including soil degradation, erosion, nutrient deficiencies, and salinity issues. It also highlighted scientific approaches and management practices for maintaining soil health and productivity.

On 7 th April 2026, the Officer Trainees of the SFS 2025–27 batch undertook a field visit to Madukkarai to observe the AI-based Early Warning System, accompanied by Dr. R. Ramkrishnan, Scientist-C, CASFOS, Coimbatore. The visit provided them with first-hand exposure to the application of artificial intelligence in real-time wildlife monitoring and human–wildlife conflict mitigation. It also broadened their understanding of modern technological interventions in forest management, equipping them with knowledge of innovative tools that are increasingly central to contemporary forest services.

CASFOS, Coimbatore organised a Special Lecture on“Elephant Poaching — A Case Study in Kerala” on 7th April 2026 for the Officer Trainees of SFS 2025–27 Batch. The session was delivered by Shri S. Narendra Babu, IFS, CF, IFGTB, Coimbatore. Drawing from his first-hand experience, he elaborated on the investigation process, legal proceedings, and enforcement challenges associated with elephant poaching cases in Kerala. The lecture provided valuable insights into wildlife crime management and reinforced the pivotal role of forest officers in safeguarding India’s wildlife heritage.

On 31st March 2026, the SFS 2025–27 Officer Trainees (31st Batch) of CASFOS, Coimbatore undertook a trek from Narasipuram Anaikad Camp to Moola ganagal. During the trek, they observed the gradual changes in vegetation across varying altitudes, familiarised themselves with the Great Trigonometrical Survey (GTS) stations, and studied various soil moisture conservation structures. The exercise provided invaluable field exposure, integral to their development as future forest officers.

On 24th March 2026, the SFS 2025–27 Officer Trainees (31st Batch) visited the Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), Mettupalayam, as part of the Forest Utilisation course. Dr. I.
