CASFOS-Coimbatore, conducted a five-day module on “Forest Fire Management” for the Officer Trainees of the SFS 2025–2027 Batch from 17th to 21st August 2026. The module provided comprehensive insights into forest fire dynamics, weather influences, fire danger rating, vulnerability zonation, fire prevention and control measures, post-fire assessment, and case studies from diverse forest landscapes. Field exercises conducted at Sirumugai Forest Range covering various aspects such as fire-line creation, controlled burning and mock forest fire suppression drills - provided the trainees with valuable hands-on exposure to fire prevention and suppression techniques.

An insightful and enriching special lecture on Financial Awareness was conducted for the Officer Trainees of SFS 26-28 Batch of CASFOS, Coimbatore, by Smt. Shangavi, Corporate Salary Manager, Axis bank and Shri. Paramaguru M., Area Sales Head, Axis Bank on 21.08.2026. The session provided valuable insights into the importance of financial planning, informed decision-making, savings, investments, and responsible financial management. It offered the Officer Trainees a better understanding of the fundamentals of managing personal finances, making prudent financial decisions, and planning for a secure financial future.

As part of the Three-Day Training Programme on “Green Infrastructure and Development”, participants undertook a field visit to SACON and Silent Valley National Park on 13 August 2026. The visit provided valuable exposure to sustainable construction practices at SACON and the ecological significance of conserving natural ecosystems at Silent Valley National Park. Guided by the Course Coordinator, Dr. R. Ramkrishnan, Scientist-C, CASFOS, Coimbatore, the field experience helped participants connect classroom concepts with practical applications and appreciate the vital role of nature-based solutions and healthy ecosystems in achieving sustainable development.

On 12 August 2026, as part of the World Elephant Day celebrations, the Officer Trainees of the SFS 2025–2027 Batch at CASFOS, Coimbatore, attended a special lecture delivered by Shri D. Venkatesh, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forests and Field Director, Anamalai Tiger Reserve. The session provided valuable insights into elephant conservation, elephant ecology, and the management of human–elephant conflict, offering the trainees practical perspectives on the challenges and strategies involved in elephant conservation and coexistence.

Thirunavukarasu, IFS, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF), Tamil Nadu Forest Department, Government of Tamil Nadu, in the presence of the faculty members of CASFOS, Coimbatore. The training programme aims to enhance awareness and understanding of sustainable, environmentally responsible infrastructure and promote green approaches in development planning and implementation.

The officers, staff and Officer trainees of the Academy organised farewell programme on 04.08.2026 at CASFOS, Coimbatore. The programme was attended by the faculty members, Officer Trainees of the SFS 2025–2027 and SFS 2026–2028 Batches, and the staff of the Academy. On the occasion, the gathering expressed its heartfelt appreciation for his visionary leadership, unwavering support, and significant contributions towards strengthening the academic, training, and administrative functions of CASFOS, Coimbatore, and wished him success in his future endeavours.
