FASTRACKING THE PM VISHWAKARMA IMPLEMENTATION IN WEST BENGAL ✨

Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner (MSME), Ministry of MSME, chaired a review meeting on the Loan Approval Process and Facilitation under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in West Bengal today through video conferencing.

The meeting was attended by Shri Nitish Kumar, Deputy Director General and Shri Danish Ashraf, Joint Development Commissioner, Ministry of MSME; Shri Manoj Muttathil Ayyappan, Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS); Ms. Garima, Director, DFS; Shri U. Swaroop, Director, Directorate of MSME, Government of West Bengal; Head, State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) and Divisional/Branch Head of all Banks across the state.

With participation from over 1,000 stakeholders through video conference, the meeting focused on strengthening awareness, streamlining loan approvals and enhancing credit facilitation support for PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries, ensuring greater access to institutional credit for artisans and craftspeople.

The Ministry of MSME, in collaboration with the Royal Danish Embassy, successfully concluded the 3rd Joint Working Group (JWG) Meeting from 26–29 May 2026.

The JWG, comprising experts from the Ministry of MSME, IPFCs, the Danish Patent and Trademark Office (DKPTO), and Aarhus University, focused on developing a standardized training framework for IPFC officials across India. The objective was to enhance the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of IP advisory and support services available to MSMEs.

The outcomes and progress of the JWG were presented to Shri Vinamra Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of MSME. Appreciating the collaborative efforts of the Indian and Danish experts, he highlighted the importance of institutionalizing high-quality capacity-building mechanisms and underscored the potential to expand the scope of the collaboration to address emerging needs of the MSME ecosystem.

This partnership reflects the shared commitment of India and Denmark towards developing innovation, strengthening intellectual property awareness, and empowering MSMEs to compete effectively in a knowledge-driven global economy.

Glimpses from the recently held Tribal Craft Expo 2026 in Goa, where Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant interacted with a PM Vishwakarma beneficiaryand appreciated the initiative’s impact in empowering traditional artisans and craftsmen.

At the International Day for Biological Diversity event, he also interacted with another PM Vishwakarma beneficiary who showcased innovative bamboo products, highlighting how sustainable bamboo crafts contribute meaningfully to biodiversity conservation and a greener future.

PM Vishwakarma set for roll-out in West Bengal

Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner (MSME), Ministry of MSME, met with Shri Manoj Agarwal, the Chief Secretary, Government of West Bengal on May 22, 2026, for implementation of PM Vishwakarma Scheme in West Bengal.

The scheme was launched by Ministry of MSME, on 17th September, 2023 and recently the Government of West Bengal has issued notification for constitution of State Monitoring Committee and also District Implementation Committees for roll-out PM Vishwakarma in West Bengal.

Discussions were held on accelerating implementation of the PM Vishwakarma, improving beneficiary identification, strengthening skill development and ensuring wider outreach among traditional artisans and craftspeople. The interaction also focused on the implementation of other MSME schemes in the State.

A meeting was also held with Shri Rajesh Pandey, Additional Chief Secretary, MSME & Textiles Department, Government of West Bengal and state functionaries wherein the modalities for outreach and implementation of PM Vishwakarma was detailed to the state officials and the bankers.
