Ambassador Suzuki attended the handover ceremony of footballs donated from Japan Football Association to Bhutan Football Federation on the stage of Japan Week in Bhutan, 2023. Football is very popular in Bhutan and the Bhutanese people are known for enjoying the game before work, after work and until midnight even on weekdays!
The JFA has decided to donate footballs, training clothes and other items to the football-loving people of Bhutan. Since 2008, JFA has sent eight coaches to Bhutan so far. We are glad to have been involved in the development and growth of football in Bhutan for the past 15 years.
The sight of children eagerly gathering around the stage when Ambassador Suzuki presented the footballs to the them was both delightful and profoundly meaningful.

It was a Medley of Melodies at the Japan Week in Bhutan 2023!

The Bhutanese people had a good time enjoying musical performances by Bhutanese students from Pelkhil School, who performed popular songs ‘Jerusalema’ and ‘Shinunoga-E-Wa’ accompanied with beatboxing and recorders. The song “Jerusalema” is popular in Bhutan, especially after Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines performed a cover version which they dedicated to His Majesty the King in appreciation of His Majesty’s tireless efforts to protect Bhutan against the Covid-19 pandemic. The audience was also swaying on the tune of Mr. Fujii Kaze's ‘Shinunoga E-Wa,’ which turned into a global sensation last year and has remained popular ever since.
The evening was made merrier by traditional Japanese music presented by the Japan Foundation New Delhi. Artists Mr. Koji Nagamura and Mr. Daisuke Sugiyama from Japan performed "Tsugaru Jonkara-Bushi" as well as renditions of popular anime songs such as 'Suzume' and 'Beni Renka' on the instrument Tsugaru-Shamisen.

On October 21, a representative from the Embassy of Japan attended the Bonsai Festival organized by the Indian Bonsai Association at Lodhi Garden, Delhi.
Bonsai is a delicate and beautiful Japanese tradition that personifies patience and nobility - it takes decades to painstakingly grow trees. The members of IBA nurture many bonsai trees and pass them down as a legacy from generation to generation. We highly appreciate their dedication and passion for Bonsai, and we hope the younger generation in India becomes familiar with and gains an interest in Bonsai.
