On 12 August, the German Embassy New Delhi hosted the 11th GSDP (Green and Sustainable Development Partnership) Conversation Series on ‘Young Voices for Sustainable Development’, marking the UN International Youth Day.

The conversation brought together young leaders, innovators, policymakers and development practitioners to share perspectives on how young people can contribute to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mr. Georg Enzweiler, Deputy Head of Mission, German Embassy, opened the evening by highlighting that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but are already playing an important role in shaping the future today.

The event was organized by the Embassy’s Economic Cooperation and Development Division, with its youngest member, Ms. Jasmine Kaur, driving the concept and organization of the event, as well as moderating the discussion.

The evening featured a fishbowl discussion around four SDGs:

⚖️ SDG 5 – Gender Equality
☀️ SDG 7 – Affordable & Clean Energy
🏙️ SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities & Communities
🌍 SDG 13 – Climate Action

Our speakers - Mr. Prateek Khandelwal, Founder of RampMyCity; Dr. Priyanshi Chauhan, Energy Advisor at GIZ India; Mr. Ronak Jogeshwar, Former NITI Aayog and Senior Fellow, Viksit Bharat Programme; and Ms. Pallavi Agrawal, Programme Analyst at UN Women India - brought different perspectives and experiences to the discussion, exploring how innovation, entrepreneurship and youth leadership can support sustainable development.

The discussion also continued through an interactive exhibition by GIZ and KfW, showcasing Indo-German cooperation across climate, energy, cities and gender equality.

In her Vote of Thanks, Ms. Pamela Baijal, Deputy Head of the Economic Cooperation and Development Division, summed up the message of the evening: a sustainable future requires all of us, and meaningful change comes from bringing ideas, partnerships and action together. 🤝

🌱 Building bridges for a sustainable food future: Indo-German cooperation at BIOFACH India 2026

At BIOFACH India 2026, the Indo-German Pavilion showcased the power of collaboration - bringing together sustainable agriculture initiatives, green market solutions, 18 farmer collectives, women self-help groups, government institutions, and private sector partners.

The event highlighted how India and Germany are working together to turn ideas into action:

🌾 From farm to market: Supporting farmers and producer groups to access sustainable and inclusive markets.

🌍 From local solutions to global learning: Georg Enzweiler, Deputy Head of Mission, highlighted the achievements of the Indo-German Agroecology Lighthouse Initiative and the importance of testing climate-smart solutions in India that can also offer lessons for Germany, especially as Europe faces rising temperatures.

🤝 From partnerships to investment: The session “From Agroecology to Investable Food Systems: Markets, Finance & Partnerships” explored how German expertise, technology, and co-investment can complement India’s growing agri-food sector.

With Europe’s growing demand for high-quality, traceable organic products, Indian farmers have more opportunities to connect with global markets by meeting international standards.

Our shared commitment to good food, fair trade, climate resilience, and sustainable agriculture is helping to shape the food systems of tomorrow.
