Hi! My name is Karan Juneja, and I’m excited to join the Netherlands Innovation Network India as Innovation Adviser.

My professional journey spans nearly eight years across technology, public policy, digital transformation, and international development, working across consulting and government, including with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and Ernst & Young.

My work has ranged from shaping initiatives in AI, Digital Public Infrastructure, and semiconductor policy to leading technology transformation programmes across fourteen African countries. I’m passionate about bringing together stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and startups to create meaningful impact.

When I’m not building innovation partnerships, I’m usually planning my next trip, hunting down a local culinary gem, or debating race strategy from the latest Formula 1 Grand Prix 🏎️

Starting an internship in a new city is never just an ordinary first day at the office, especially when there is a mystery to solve before you can even step through the front door 🗝️

To earn their official key to the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, our newest team members were sent on a scavenger hunt across the bustling streets of Delhi. Armed with nothing but cryptic riddles and their collective wits, they had to navigate the capital, decipher the clues, and prove they have what it takes to represent the orange 🚲

🇳🇱🇮🇳 turning shared health challenges into shared solutions.

The 6th India–Netherlands Joint Working Group on Public Health & Healthcare marks a key step in putting our new Strategic Partnership into concrete action – with health as one of the core pillars in our strategic relationship.

The JWG was chaired by Ms. Marjolijn Sonnema Vice Minister Public Health, Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport together with Mr Vijay Nehra, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and was joined by our Health Counselor Nico Schiettekatte and senior policy officers from both sides. The meeting started with the opening remarks ( virtually) from Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India .

We had a constructive exchange that helped us to elevate our shared priorities to a next level in climate & health, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), digital health and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The key outcomes from the discussions which will turn insights into concrete action are:
• strengthening healthcare systems
• scaling innovation
• building capabilities for better health outcomes
• bridging research, knowledge exchange, entrepreneurship and policy to drive stronger public private partnerships

The Indian delegation from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, National Centre for Disease Control, Indian Council for Medical Reserach and National Health Authority also visited the Erasmus University Medical Centre, Z-CERT, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, the Amsterdam Skills Centre and Philips.

The visit to the Netherlands concluded with reaffirming our 🇮🇳🇳🇱 commitment to build resilient health systems and address global health challenges together.

Last week, our Ambassador Marisa Gerards welcomed Frederique van der Lelie, a 17-year-old student from Groningen who has been selected as the Student Ambassador of the Netherlands for the ShakthiSAT mission.

Her fascination with space started at the very young age of four, fueled by many books on stars and space 🚀🪐. At the age of eight, she joined the JWG (Youth Astronomy Group), and at 17, Frederique was selected to represent the Netherlands in the ShakthiSAT mission in Delhi, alongside the project’s Dutch ambassador, Pragya Jain.

With only 11% of astronauts launched into space being women, ShakthiSAT aims to bridge the gender gap in space and STEM. This project aims to spark an interest in aerospace engineering among 20,000 girls from 108 countries and to launch two satellites into space. One girl was chosen from each country to travel to India and work hands-on with aerospace experts from around the globe.

Through this opportunity, Frederique not only gained technical knowledge but also formed lasting friendships with girls from all over the world.

We are deeply saddened by the severe flooding that has affected Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and the surrounding areas.

The Netherlands extend condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and expresses its solidarity with the people of Nepal during these difficult times.
