Threads of Living Traditions of India - In Dialogue
An extraordinary celebration of cultural diplomacy and heritage recently unfolded at the Museum of Sacred Art (MOSA) in Domaine de Radhadesh, Belgium!
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), in collaboration with the Embassy of India, Brussels, proudly inaugurated two landmark exhibitions bringing India’s vibrant, living traditions to the heart of Europe.
In the esteemed presence of H.E. Pranay Verma (Ambassador of India to the EU, Belgium, and Luxembourg) and Ms. Manisha Swami DDG, ICCR alongside global diplomats, art historians, and cultural connoisseurs, the occasion served as a beautiful sensory tribute to Indian heritage.
The Exhibitions
Curated by Ms. Sujata Prasad, these breathtaking collections offer a journey through India's intricate visual and textile histories:
• Threaded Memories: Embroidery Traditions of India: A profound exploration of the cultural, historical, and visual narratives embedded within India’s enduring textile legacy.
• Bajjika Art - A Dialogue: An inspiring showcase featuring incredible live demonstrations by the talented artists Mr. Kanchan Prakash and Ms. Sanju Devi.
Spotlight on Regional Masterpieces
Threaded Memories highlights the exceptional artistry and lived experiences of generations of Indian artisans, specifically featuring:
• Kantha from West Bengal
• Chamba Rumal from Himachal Pradesh
• Madhubani and Sujani from Bihar
• Kashida from Kashmir
• Rabari from Gujarat

Karnataka’s Rich Cultural Heritage Goes Global!
Highlights from the MoU signing between ICCR and the Department of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka, at ICCR Headquarters, New Delhi.
In a significant step towards strengthening India’s cultural diplomacy, Ms. Manisha Swami, Deputy Director General (Culture), ICCR, and Shri J. Manjunath, Secretary to the Government, Department of Kannada and Culture, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the distinguished presence of Ms. K. Nandini Singla, Director General of ICCR.
This collaborative framework marks an important milestone in amplifying Karnataka’s artistic and cultural footprints internationally. The partnership aims to showcase Karnataka’s vibrant traditions, performing arts, literature, and handicrafts etc leveraging ICCR’s extensive global network to provide prestigious international platforms for Kannadiga artists and scholars.
