The Department of Energy Lesotho through its National Liaison Office responsible for the coordination of the Nuclear Science and Technology Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) between the Government of Lesotho and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA); in collaboration with the Radiation Protection Agency - RPA and the Office of the African Regional Cooperative Agreement for Research, Development and Training related to Nuclear Science and Technology (AFRA) National Coordinator, convened national project counterparts and coordinators from the participating line ministries for the first coordination meeting of 2026.
The objective of the meeting was to review progress on national TC projects and assess Lesotho’s participation in regional AFRA initiatives, identifying achievements, lessons learned and challenges such as resource constraints and coordination gaps. It will also strengthen stakeholder coordination and develop actionable recommendations to enhance implementation, sustainability, and alignment with national and AFRA priorities.
