KECHEMA Concludes Seven-Day Joint Integrated Supportive Supervision Exercise

The Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has concluded a seven-day Joint Integrated Supportive Supervision exercise across healthcare facilities in the state.

The exercise, organized by the Standard Quality Assurance (SQA) Department of KECHEMA, was aimed at assessing facility performance, strengthening quality assurance by ensuring adherence to KECHEMA guidelines and protocols, and addressing complaints and grievances to improve service delivery.

The supervision exercise brought together key stakeholders from the Ministry of Health and relevant agencies, including the Director of Inspectorate Services, Ministry of Health, Dr. Lawal Haruna Kangiwa; Director of Medical Services, Dr. Jibril Labbo Gwandu; and Director of Standard Quality Assurance, KECHEMA, Nurse Ummu Adamu Yauri.

Others included the State NHIA Head of SQA, Najamudeen Mohammed; Head of NHIA/KECHEMA Clinic, Sir Yahaiya Memorial Hospital Birnin Kebbi, Dr. Shola Afere, Directors of KECHEMA departments; Deputy Director, SQA, Malam Musa Magana; and other officials from relevant agencies.

The team visited and assessed Primary, Secondary, Tertiary and Private Healthcare facilities participating in KECHEMA programmes.

The inspection covered various departments and service areas of the facilities, with particular attention to identifying gaps, assessing compliance with required standards and finding practical solutions to challenges affecting service delivery.

The exercise also provided an opportunity for the team to engage healthcare providers, assess the implementation of KECHEMA programmes and address issues affecting beneficiaries.

According to the Agency, the supervision exercise enabled Management to identify key challenges hindering the effective implementation of the scheme and develop appropriate measures to address the gaps.

KECHEMA under the Leadership of Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare assured to strengthen quality assurance, improve healthcare service delivery and ensure that beneficiaries receive better and more efficient services across the state.

Kebbi Health Delegation Meets NHIA DG Over Resumption of BHCPF Disbursement.

A high-powered delegation from the Kebbi State Ministry of Health and the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has held a fruitful discussion with the Director-General of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Kelechi Ohiri, in Abuja.

The meeting focused on the resumption of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) disbursement to Kebbi State, which was suspended recently.

The resumption of the fund is expected to facilitate continued access to essential healthcare services for beneficiaries of the BHCPF programme across the state.

The delegation reaffirmed the commitment of the Kebbi State Government, the Ministry of Health and KECHEMA to strengthening healthcare delivery and advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all residents of the state.

It could be recalled that the Governing Board of KECHEMA, under the leadership of its Chairman, Comrade Abubakar Bala Gado Kamba (Dan Masanin Kyanga), and the Executive Secretary, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, have consistently assured stakeholders of their determination to pursue every necessary measure towards achieving Universal Health Coverage in Kebbi State.

The delegation was led by the Permanent Secretary, Kebbi State Ministry of Health, Dr. Zaki Abubakar, the Chairman of the KECHEMA Governing Board, Comrade Abubakar Bala Gado Kamba; the Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, who was represented by the Director of Programmes, KECHEMA, Dr. Suwaiba Labbo Jadadi; and the Director of Health Planning, Research and Statistics, Kebbi State Ministry of Health, Alhaji Bala Isah Kamba.

Others on the delegation were the Director of Finance, Supply and Investments, KECHEMA, Alhaji Atiku Ibrahim, and the Deputy Director of Finance KECHEMA, Hajiya Ruqayya Baura.

The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between the state and the NHIA in ensuring the sustainability of healthcare financing and uninterrupted access to quality healthcare services for vulnerable and other eligible beneficiaries under the BHCPF programme.

KECHEMA Condoles with Family of Late Muhammadu Gado Marafa.

The Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has condoled with the family of the late Alhaji Muhammadu Gado Marafa, who passed away recently.

The Management of KECHEMA, in a show of solidarity and support, dispatched a delegation to Zuru to commiserate with the family of the deceased.

The delegation was led by the Director of Administration, Alhaji Mukhtar A. Zaki, who conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Agency to the bereaved family.

While sympathising with the family, Alhaji Mukhtar A. Zaki prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him eternal rest and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.

He also prayed Allah to grant his family, friends, colleagues and other relatives the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Late Alhaji Muhammadu Gado Marafa was the pioneer Chairman of the Governing Board of KECHEMA and contributed immensely to the establishment, growth and development of the Agency.

His dedication and valuable contributions to the advancement of the Agency will remain deeply appreciated and remembered.

As part of its concern to the bereaved family, the Agency, on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, and the entire Management and Staff, sympathize with the family of the deceased and prayed to Allah to grant him Jannatul Firdaus.

The Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has officially flagged off the enrolment of an additional 50,000 vulnerable persons into the Equity Plan of the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA).

The flag-off ceremony, held at the Kalgo Local Government Secretariat, attracted health stakeholders, development partners, politicians, civil servants, members of the KECHEMA Governing Board and people from all walks of life.

In his welcome address, the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Hon. Yakubu Samaila Augie, thanked Governor Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) for his commitment to transforming the health sector in the state. He particularly acknowledged the Governor’s efforts towards the renovation and upgrading of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Healthcare facilities across Kebbi State.

The Commissioner, who was represented at the occasion by the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Jibril Labbo Gwandu, also commended the Governor for approving and releasing of funds to KECHEMA and other health agencies to strengthen healthcare service delivery in the state.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, provided an overview of the Agency’s activities and described the enrolment of the additional 50,000 beneficiaries as the second major equity enrolment initiative undertaken by the administration of Governor Nasir Idris.

Dr. Dandare assured that KECHEMA, under his leadership, would continue to work tirelessly towards ensuring that residents of Kebbi State have access to affordable, reliable, accessible and quality healthcare services.

He further solicited the support of the state government for the provision of operational vehicles for the Agency, noting that such support would enhance KECHEMA’s ability to effectively reach rural communities and expand healthcare coverage across the state.

Flagging off the enrolment, the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), urged all beneficiaries to make maximum use of the opportunity provided by the government by seeking medical attention promptly whenever they fall sick.

Dr. Nafisa assured the people of Kebbi State that the administration of Governor Nasir Idris would continue to prioritise healthcare delivery and implement programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing of citizens, particularly vulnerable members of society.

The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), delivered by the State Coordinator, Dr. Muhammad Nasir Isah Wasagu; UNICEF Sokoto Field Office, represented by Health Specialist, Dr. Joy Uberu; and the National Orientation Agency (NOA), represented by the State Director, Mal. Nasir Karofi.

This is to inform the general public that the Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) is set to officially flag off the enrollment of an additional 50,000 beneficiaries under the Equity Fund Programme, sponsored by the Kebbi State Government.

The flag-off ceremony will be formally launched by the Wife of the Governor Dr. Nafisa Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), at the premises of Kalgo Local Government Secretariat on Saturday 22nd of August 2026 by 10:00 am.

This latest enrollment is in addition to the 45,000 beneficiaries enrolled last year across the 225 political wards of the State under the same programme.

The initiative highlighted the commitment of the administration of Governor Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) to expanding access to affordable and quality healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable residents, while reducing the financial burden of healthcare on the people of the State.

KECHEMA, SPHCDA Renew Collaboration to Strengthen Healthcare Service Delivery

The Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening and renewing its relationship with the Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KBSPHCDA) as part of efforts to improve healthcare service delivery across the state.

The Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, stated this when he led the Management Team of the Agency on a courtesy visit to the Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency.

Dr. Dandare emphasized the importance of closer collaboration between the two agencies, noting that their partnership is critical to achieving better healthcare outcomes for the people of Kebbi State.

He disclosed that KECHEMA and the SPHCDA would work together more closely and establish quarterly coordination meetings to review their activities, address emerging challenges and identify ways of taking healthcare service delivery to the next level.

The Executive Secretary described KECHEMA and the SPHCDA as “identical twins that can never be separated,” stressing that both agencies have complementary responsibilities and must continue to support one another in the interest of the people.

Responding, the Executive Secretary of the SPHCDA, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad, thanked the KECHEMA Management Team for the visit and expressed his readiness to strengthen the renewed relationship between the two agencies.

Alhaji Abubakar assured that the SPHCDA would ensure that heads of Primary Healthcare Centres implementing KECHEMA programmes operate with transparency, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He noted that improved coordination between the two agencies would contribute significantly to strengthening Primary Healthcare Centres and ensuring that beneficiaries receive quality and accessible healthcare services.

KECHEMA to Partner with Persons with Disabilities on Enrollment into State Contributory Health Scheme.

The Kebbi State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KECHEMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) through the State Contributory Health Scheme.

The Executive Secretary of KECHEMA, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Dandare, made this known while receiving the management of the Kebbi State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, led by its Chairman, Comrade Anas Malami Gwandu, during a courtesy visit to his office.

Dr. Dandare disclosed that more Persons with Disabilities would be enrolled under the recently approved 50,000 beneficiaries under Equity Fund Programme sponsored by the Kebbi State Government explaining that the Agency is fully committed to improving the health and well-being of vulnerable groups across the state.

He urged the Commission to mobilize its members in all the 21 Local Government Areas to take advantage of the enrollment exercise and ensure that eligible persons are captured under the State Contributory Health Scheme.

Also speaking, the Director of ICT KECHEMA, Ibrahim Salisu Illo, explained that the ongoing enrollment exercise is specifically targeted at vulnerable groups captured in the Kebbi State Social Register, noting that Persons with Disabilities are among the priority beneficiaries of the programme.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Kebbi State Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Comrade Anas Malami Gwandu, said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with KECHEMA to ensure the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in the Agency's regular enrollment exercises.

He described the State Contributory Health Scheme as one of the most impactful government initiatives for vulnerable citizens, saying it has significantly improved access to healthcare for disadvantaged groups.

Comrade Gwandu appealed to KECHEMA to allocate more enrollment slots to Persons with Disabilities in future enrollment exercises.

He further noted that the law establishing the Commission provides for the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in government programmes and activities, emphasizing the need to ensure they fully benefit from healthcare interventions and other social protection initiatives.
