The Norwegian Barents Secretariat was established in 1993 with the aim of contributing to better cooperation with our neighboring areas in northwestern Russia. This work has become more difficult after Russia's war against Ukraine, and we have therefore been given a new assignment from 2024. Then we will contribute to community development in northern Norway through international cooperation with

actors in the north of Sweden and Finland. The Secretariat is also a center of competence on cross-border cooperation in the north, open for questions both by specialists and ordinary people.
