QOGLR Monument Unveiled in Dharan, Nepal

On 19 September, Serving Members and Veterans of The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment (QOGLR) unveiled the QOGLR Monument in British Gurkha Memorial Park in Dharan, Nepal. The monument anchors the Regiment's history, honouring the fallen and keeping their shared bond and sacrifice alive for those who serve today.
Commander QOGLR, Lt Col Nick Heppenstall MBE and Chairman Regimental Association Nepal (RAN), Major (Retired) Balkrishna Rana MBE, accompanied by Deputy Commander BGN, Lieutenant Colonel Rob Browne and Gurkha Major QOGLR, Major Vivek Jung Shah MVO MBE inaugurated the event.

Serving members, veterans, and families attended the event, which also honoured the 68th QOGLR Regimental Birthday.

"The British Army's Brigade of Gurkhas has been granted the Freedom of Kent.

The fighting force received the civic honour at a special meeting of Kent County Council (KCC) on Thursday in recognition of 'the distinguished service' it had given the UK over its 216-year history."

The honour recognises the service the fighting force has given the UK over its 216-year history.

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (Nepal) and Motor Transport Department BGN in BGN Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dharan today observed Vishwakarma Puja (विश्वकर्मा पूजा), invocation to Lord Vishwakarma expressing gratitude for the tools, machinery, and technology that sustain everyday livelihoods.

Kent County Council’s (KCC) award is to recognise “the distinguished service” the elite fighting force has given the United Kingdom over its 216-year history."

The Kent-based Brigade of Gurkhas is set to be honoured with the Freedom of the County.

नेपाली हिन्दु महिलाहरूको विशेष पर्व हरितालिका तीजको पावन अवसरमा भदौ २९ (सेप्टेम्बर १४) को दिन बि जी एन परिवारका महिलाहरूद्वारा बि जी एन मन्दिरमा पण्डित श्री झबिन्द्र ज्ञवालीज्यूको उपस्थितिमा पूजा-आराधना कार्यक्रम सम्पन्न गरियो ।

Ladies of BGN Families community observed Haritalika Teej, a major festival for Nepali Hindu women, at BGN Temple on September 14 (Bhadra 29), by holding a special worship ceremony with priest Mr. Jhabindra Gyawali.

The British Gurkhas Pokhara (BGP) civilian staff community hosted a farewell programme for outgoing OC BGP Major James Hornby and Mr Bikash Thapa Magar, Generator Operator DIO (Nepal), on 11 Sep 2026. The staff community thanked Major Hornby for an excellent term in Nepal and Mr Bikash for a dedicated service of 32 years in BGN.
On the same occasion, the staff community took the opportunity to welcome the new OC BGP, Major Alex Fall and civilian staff members Miss Ashma Gurung and Mr Dilli Jung Gurung.

BGN Temple Puja was held observing Krishna Janmashtami (कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी) on 04 September, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, identified in Hindu scriptures as the supreme God and source of all avatars.
Officers, staff, and families gathered for an evening Puja, timed to align with Krishna’s midnight birth hour.
The service was led by Major Kiran Pun MVO, Gurkha Major BGN and Mr. Jhabindra Gyawali, BGN Pandit.
