Update on the pool closure: We have had a local contractor at the pool today to assess the problems we have been having with the pumping system.

Unfortunately, one of the integral pipes within the system has rusted through. We had hoped to have a temporary solution today so that we could reopen the pool for the weekend, but that won’t be possible due to the extent of the corrosion.

New stainless steel pipework is on the way, so that our contractor can install this next week and then we can begin heating the pools. All going to plan, we should be in a position to reopen the pool by the end of next week.

A replacement pump has also been ordered to for the spa pool. We expect the spa to be back in operation within the next two weeks.

We're sorry for the inconvenience that this may cause, and will provide a progress update next week.

Hi everyone. We have had to close the Balclutha Centennial Pool this afternoon, due to a issue with the pumping system. This is a separate issue not related to the new pump that was recently installed.

We will provide an update tomorrow afternoon, once our team have assessed the issues. Updates will be posted here, on the Clutha District Council page and CDC's website.

We're really sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi everyone, we are happy to announce that the Balclutha Pool will be reopening tomorrow (Friday, 5 June 2026), just in time for the weekend.

Normal opening hours will be in place, 6am to 8pm.

Please note that the spa pool is currently not in operation. Swimmers may also notice that the pool is slightly cooler as usual, as the boiler continues to heat up.

Thank you for your patience while the new motor and pump were installed. The team is looking forward to seeing everyone back at the pool.

UPDATE: Friday, 29 May 2026: The Balclutha Centennial Pool will be closed for the long weekend, as we await delivery of a new motor and pump.
We expect the parts will arrive Tuesday or Wednesday next week (2-3 June). Following that, we will be working to have the new parts installed and the pool reheated so that we can reopen by the end of next week.
We will provide another update next week. We apologise again for the inconvenience that this may cause.
