Blenheim Volunteer Fire Brigade

Blenheim Volunteer Fire Brigade Blenheim Volunteer Fire Brigade provides fire, rescue and emergency services across the Marlborough This site is not monitored 24/7.

Blenheim Volunteer Fire Brigade was established in 1870, and is responsible for a large residential zone, a CBD with mostly light industry, Blenheimโ€™s rural community and NZ's largest wine industry. Several major winery complexes are located within the area and are covered by the Brigade. The Brigade offers a "Community working for the Community" programme where a Fire Risk Officer will check, cha

nge batteries and install smoke alarms in the communities homes. We have a great rapport with the community and it is not uncommon to see the Volunteers at local schools/community functions/galas/fundraisers with an appliance for the children to have a look at. Our Facebook presence helps us to engage with the public and provides a place for people to share their experiences, and interest, in our activities. ๐Ÿš’ Congratulations to Lucas Lima on successfully completing Recruit Course and joining the Blenheim Volunteer Fire Brigade!

Lucas, who works in IT, embraced the physical and mental challenges of training while building strong connections with fellow recruits. For him, the highlight of his Recruit Course was the people โ€” meeting a diverse group from all walks of life, united by the same goal of serving their communities.

His favourite moments since joining have been engaging with the community, sharing what firefighters do, and showcasing the trucks and equipment.

When asked what he'd say to anyone considering joining, Lucas's advice was simple: "Definitely do it. You'll meet great people, learn valuable life skills, and gain immense satisfaction from helping others and giving back to your community."

Welcome to the brigade, Lucas โ€” we're proud to have you on the team! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿš’

11 legends. 1000+ stairs. Full fire kit. Questionable life choices. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿฅต

Huge effort from the Blenheim Volunteer Fire Brigade today taking on the Sky Tower challenge โ€” proving once again that volunteers will do anything for the communityโ€ฆ except maybe leg day tomorrow. ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ’ช

Proud, exhausted, and probably still finding stairs in their nightmares. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿงฏ

๐Ÿ”ฅ Open fire season for most of Nelson Marlborough ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is revoking the restricted fire season in most of the Nelson Marlborough District from 8am on Friday 24 April, until further notice.

This means the Waimea, Coastal, Nelson North, Lake Rotoiti, Murchison, North Marlborough, and South Marlborough zones join the Golden Bay zones in an open fire season.

An open fire season means you do not need a permit from Fire and Emergency to light an outdoor fire.

All Department of Conservation land (PCL) remains in a restricted fire season, meaning anyone wanting to light a fire needs a permit approved by Fire and Emergency.

Sandy Bay remains in a prohibited fire season, meaning all outdoor fires are banned.

District Commander Grant Haywood says the autumn conditions have reduced the fire risk across the district.

โ€œThanks to shorter days, cooler temperatures, and increased rainfall, there is no longer a need to impose restrictions on outdoor fires.

โ€œHowever, if you are lighting a fire, it is your responsibility to do so in a safe manner.

โ€œFires must be kept to a manageable size and smoke drift should not be a hazard for motorists. If it is windy, please postpone your burn.

โ€œWe urge everyone to continue going to www.checkitsalright.nz before lighting any fires to check if itโ€™s safe to light and to access safety advice.โ€

๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿš’ Safety Tip of the Day ๐Ÿš’๐ŸŒˆ
Weโ€™ve found the end of the rainbowโ€ฆ but itโ€™s definitely not a parking spot โ€“ especially outside a fire station!

Remember: keep clear of station driveways at all times. You never know when a fire truck might need to make a quick dash โ€“ no pot of gold is worth blocking the brigade.

Airsheds In 2005, regional councils were required to outline urban areas which either were, or were likely to exceed, the national environmental standards (NES) for PM10. These areas were termed airsheds. In Marlborough, Blenheim is currently the only designated airshed. Each airshed is required to....
