✈Combined MGC/MBC European Trip Update✈

Our combined MGC/MBC students have safely arrived and are enjoying their first evening in London 🇬🇧, with dinner on Shaftesbury Avenue.

After a very long journey, including a 13-hour flight and a two-hour bus ride today, our students have been fantastic. We are incredibly proud of how they have conducted themselves and are all looking forward to an exciting time ahead in London!

Full-time, permanent, 40 hours per week, commencing Term 1, 2027

We are looking for a skilled, warm and capable Guidance Counsellor to join our pastoral team and help our ākonga fly under their own power - building the insight, resilience and connection they need to thrive now and in the future.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent position commencing Term 1, 2027. For a suitably qualified and experienced candidate, this role may carry the Head of Guidance leadership responsibility, remunerated with 2 Middle Leadership Units (2MU) and 1 Middle Management Allowance (1MMA).

Te Reo Māori & Te Ao Haka Teacher, and Whānau Teacher — Te Rui o Te Wairau

Full time, Permanent, Commencing Term 1, 2027

Ko te Kāreti tēnei o Te Riu o Te Wairau e karanga atu nei ki a koutou ngā manu taikō o te ao Māori. Nau mai, piki mai, kake mai ki Te Riu o Te Wairau.

We are looking for a passionate, skilled Kaiako Māori to join our kura and work with amazing kōhine Māori — a role at the heart of our commitment to Māori student success. You will plan, teach and assess te reo Māori (Years 9-13, to NCEA Level 3) and te ao haka to NCEA Level 3, and be the whānau teacher for Te Rui o Te Wairau, our multi-level kaupapa Māori whānau class.

This is more than a teaching role. It is an opportunity to shape how our ākonga Māori see themselves, their whakapapa and their futures — and to lead kaupapa Māori across the whole school alongside a community that is genuinely invested in their success.

Huge congrats to our Week 9 winners who scored themselves a Bocky Boo voucher!

Ōpaoa did it again! Taking out the final win of the term, they have officially been crowned the Term 3 Attendance Champions! 🎉 What an incredible effort!

We’ve made it to the end of Term 3! Wishing everyone an amazing, well-deserved school holiday break. Rest up, enjoy the sunshine, and recharge! ☀️✨

Our Week 10 winners will be drawn during Week 1 of Term 4, so keep an eye out for that announcement!

Time is running out to catch the FOLIO Marlborough Youth Art Exhibition before it closes on 4 October.

Head along to the Marlborough Art Gallery at Te Kahu o Waipuna to see the NCEA portfolio work of Year 11, 12 and 13 students, and don't forget to explore the FOLIO Trail while you're at it.

As part of Council's Space Create initiative, selected student artworks are also on display in business windows and spaces throughout Blenheim's town centre, creating a walkable arts experience that celebrates the region's young creatives.

If you haven't had a chance to wander the trail yet, now's the time. Keep an eye out for artworks as you move through town, you might be surprised by what you find.

The FOLIO Exhibition 2026 is led by the Marlborough Youth Council in partnership with the Marlborough Art Gallery, local colleges and Council.

💥Learn a Language Week: Whānau Class Door Decorating Competition! 💥

As part of 'Learn a Language Week', our International Committee organised a fun Whānau Class Door Decorating Competition to celebrate the many languages and cultures represented across our kura.

Whānau classes were challenged to transform their classroom doors into colourful displays showcasing different cultures, languages, flags and traditions. It was amazing to see the creativity and effort that went into each door, with classes bringing their own unique ideas to life.

A huge congratulations to Ms Teologos’ Whānau Class, who took out the winning spot! 🏆 Their door stood out with its bright, colourful and creative design, beautifully celebrating and showcasing cultures from around the world.

Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make Learn a Language Week such a vibrant celebration of language, culture and diversity at MGC!

Balancing the rigors of a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery as a second-year student at Otago University while representing New Zealand on the water is an extraordinary feat. Sweeping the Trans-Tasman series with the NZ Universities team is an incredible achievement. Your focus, tenacity, and relentless drive inspire our entire community.

We are so incredibly proud of you, Mila - we'll be cheering you on every step of the way toward the World University Games and beyond! 🌟🌟
