Mosgiel residents may have noticed some activity at the old Warehouse building in recent weeks.🚒
Mosgiel Volunteer and Dunedin Fire Brigades were fortunate to access the building, thanks to its owner, to use for a variety of training scenarios.🔥
This provided newer firefighters the opportunity for some semi-realistic training whilst sharpening the skills of the more experienced firefighters.🧯
If there are any other building owners out there who think they may have a suitable facility and are willing to let us use it for some training scenarios please reach out to us!👨‍🚒

Today marks 50 Years of official service for one of our members.

50 years of turning up for training, events, working bees and answering the call - in many cases by leaving behind a family event or a busy day at work - to support someone in need. This is only the second time in the 120 year history of the brigade that this accolade has been recognized, a milestone that is achieved by only 0.06% of firefighters.

To Station Officer Operational Support Russell Turnbull, from all of the team at Mosgiel VFB, congratulations on a long and successful 50 year term of service, we look forward to officially celebrating your achievement soon.

We understand people in our community are concerned about the impact of the Middle East conflict on fuel, and it may be tempting to store extra fuel on your property. Fire and Emergency does not recommend this.

Fuel is a highly flammable substance, and storing large quantities of it comes with serious fire danger.

A fire involving fuel spreads rapidly and releases a lot of heat. Even a small spill can cause a devastating fire that will spread incredibly quickly.

Find further information on the storage of your existing fuel: www.epa.govt.nz/everyday-environment/petrol/
