🌱 Small crew. Big impact.
A team of Alpine volunteers, with family members, recently swapped their usual weekend plans for gumboots and spades, helping plant native species on Beach Road as part of the Our Waitarakao project.

Together, they helped launch a project that will see 750 native plants established along the waterway, improving water quality and creating healthier habitats for native plants and wildlife around Washdyke Lagoon.

Supporting projects like this is one way we're bringing our Sustainability Roadmap and commitment to Thriving Communities to life. By investing in the health of our local environment today, we're helping create a stronger, more sustainable future for the communities we serve.

A big thank you to Canterbury (ECan) for organising the day, and to our team and their families for rolling up their sleeves and making a difference. 💚🌿

**Update as at 6am: Power restored to remaining customers at 1am. A massive thanks to our hardworking crew and network controllers for safely carrying out this work.

Our teams have restored power to approximately 350 customers affected by this evening's outage.

The outage was caused by a fault involving high-voltage network equipment, which also damaged some connected equipment on the network.

Crews are continuing fault-finding and repair work to restore power - aiming for later this evening - to the remaining affected customers as quickly and safely as possible.

Yesterday's unplanned outage in Timaru Central impacted local businesses, and we'd like to extend a genuine thank you to everyone affected.

Our team has shared how understanding and supportive customers were while crews worked to restore power safely and as quickly as possible. In situations like these, that patience makes a real difference and is greatly appreciated.
