The Vigan City Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office Staff recently assisted Dr. John Christopher Mesana from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) during his quick visit to the City’s various Historical Landmarks, Cultural Spots, and Local Industries.

From exploring our local museum exhibits and ancestral collections to witnessing the timeless artistry of Inabel weaving and Pagburnayan (Jar Making), the visit highlighted Vigan’s vibrant history and enduring cultural traditions, thus, providing Dr. Mesana data and insights in preparation for the Festival Enhancement Training.

Dr. John Christopher Mesana is the distinguished resource speaker for the Festival and Event Management Training, conducted by the City Government of Vigan in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) held on July 29-31, 2026 at SP Session Hall, Vigan City.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Mesana for his valuable visit, and we look forward to how his expertise will help elevate and enrich our future Bigueño cultural festivals!

In line with the City Government of Vigan’s continuing commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and enriching visitor experience, the City Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office conducted a One-Day Basic Orientation on Vigan Tourism for the Tourist Police on July 27, 2026, at Hotel Collado, Barangay Pantay Fatima, Vigan City.

The orientation provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of Vigan’s rich history, cultural heritage, tourism destinations, local traditions, and visitor assistance protocols. It also reinforces the vital role of the Tourist Police as frontline ambassadors in promoting the city’s identity while ensuring the safety, security, and satisfaction of every visitor.

By investing in the continuous development of our tourism frontliners, the City Government of Vigan strengthens its commitment to delivering quality public service, preserving its UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage, and fostering a tourism industry that is sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive.
