🌱 Support tree growing and mangrove planting activities because it strengthen our ecosystems and help restore balance in nature.

🔥 Avoid activities that may trigger fire, especially open burning, which poses serious risks to health and the environment.

📢 Did you know?
Open burning is strictly prohibited under Republic Act No. 8749 (Philippine Clean Air Act), which protects our right to clean air and helps reduce air pollution.

It is also prohibited under Republic Act No. 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act), as burning solid waste releases toxic fumes that are harmful to human health and the environment.

In addition, Municipal Ordinance No. 18, Series of 2020, Section 61 (Prohibited Acts), Letter G reinforces this prohibition at the local level, ensuring stricter compliance within our municipality.

As youth of the community, we are called to stand for who we are and what we believe in a future rooted in care, responsibility, and love for our environment.

Today, the Sangguniang Kabataan from different barangays across our municipality came together to celebrate Earth Day through meaningful action. From planting mangroves to conducting coastal clean-ups, their efforts reflect a shared commitment to protect and preserve our natural resources.

It’s truly inspiring to witness young people taking the lead, showing that caring for our environment is not just a responsibility, but a passion. Together, let’s continue nurturing nature for the generations to come. 🌱🌊

SPOTTED: Dapdap Tree ( Erythrina Variegata) at Barangay Agujo.

Dapdap tree, scientifically known as Erythrina variegata, is a fast growing, deciduous tree commonly found in tropical regions like the Philippines.

The dapdap is a medium-sized tree that can grow up to 15–20 meters tall. It has a wide, spreading canopy, making it useful for shade in coastal areas.

The leaves usually fall before flowering, giving the tree a striking bare look when in bloom.

The dapdap produces bright red to orange, coral-like flower that grow in clusters and appear when the tree is leafless.

Some parts are used in folk remedies.

Some parts of the tree, especially the seeds, are poisonous and should not be eaten.

HAPPENING NOW: First Quarterly Meeting of MENROs/CENROs at Province of Cebu

The First Quarterly Meeting of MENROs/CENROs in the Province of Cebu is currently taking place at the National Council of Senior Citizens Conference Hall, Capitol Compound.

We are proud to share that our very own MENRO, Mamerto Mitong Rodrigo, has been invited as one of the Resource Speakers for this significant gathering. During the conference, he is presenting and sharing our LGU’s best practices in managing the Central Material Recovery Facility (CMRF), as well as our Incentives and Rewards Program that promotes effective solid waste management and environmental responsibility.

This opportunity to showcase our initiatives reflects the dedication and hard work of our LGU in strengthening environmental programs and advancing sustainable waste management systems. It is truly an honor to contribute insights and practical strategies that may also benefit other local government units in the province.

We take great pride in being able to share our accomplishments and are especially proud of MENRO Mamerto Q. Rodrigo for representing our municipality with excellence and commitment.

Together, we continue to work towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Cebu.

Today, January 24, 2025, Cebu Pacific Catering Services Inc. successfully conducted a mangrove planting activity in Barangay Bagay, in partnership with the Bagay Mangrove Growers.

A total of 100 miape (Avicennia) mangrove seedlings were planted, contributing to the protection and restoration of our coastal ecosystem. This initiative supports shoreline stabilization, provides habitat for marine life, and strengthens our community’s resilience against climate change.

This meaningful activity reflects the strong collaboration between the private sector and the local community, united by a shared commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable coastal management.

Together, we nurture nature and safeguard our coasts for today and for future generations.

The 3-day Skills Training on Stuffed Toy and Eco Pillow Making was successfully conducted!

Our participants proudly went home with big smiles, carrying not only their finished outputs but also new skills and confidence. This training was more than just a livelihood opportunity, it was a step toward environmental responsibility.

By turning plastic waste into useful and creative products, we promoted recycling, reduced plastic pollution, and showed how sustainability can go hand in hand with income generation.

We are truly grateful for the active participation and dedication of everyone involved, especially our trainers from USF-Sewing Facility- CTU Main Campus for generously sharing their knowledge and expertise, and Ctu Daanbantayan for allowing us to use their machines and facilities.

Together, we empower our community, protect our environment, and create a greener future one eco pillow and stuffed toy at a time. ♻️

All market sectors gathered for a joint meeting with MENRO Mamerto Mitong Rodrigo , Market Head Corsino Rosas, and Mayor Gilbert Arrabis Jr . The discussion focused on strengthening the implementation of proper waste segregation and reducing garbage within the market area.

During the meeting, participants were reminded of their shared responsibility in maintaining a clean and orderly marketplace, protecting public health, and helping preserve the environment.

Commitments were made to improve waste management practices, encourage discipline among vendors and customers, and support programs that promote recycling and waste reduction.
