Strengthening Fire Safety Preparedness through Training

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) successfully commenced its 2-Day Fire and Safety Hazard Training for personnel assigned to the Residual Containment Area cm Central Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Barangay Pajo, Daanbantayan.

Recognizing the nature of solid waste management operations and the potential fire hazards associated with waste handling and disposal, the training aims to enhance the participants’ knowledge and practical skills in fire prevention, emergency response, and workplace safety.

Through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises facilitated by Bfp Vll Daanbantayan, the activity reinforces the Municipality’s commitment to ensuring a safe working environment while promoting the protection of lives, property, and the environment.

Prepared personnel build resilient workplaces, and preparedness remains one of the most effective tools in preventing emergencies before they occur.

As we continue to experience the effects of El Niño, it is vital for all of us to take proactive steps in protecting our environment, health, and community.

💧 Conserve water at all times use it wisely and avoid unnecessary waste.

🌱 Support tree growing and mangrove planting activities because it strengthen our ecosystems and help restore balance in nature.

🔥 Avoid activities that may trigger fire, especially open burning, which poses serious risks to health and the environment.

📢 Did you know?
Open burning is strictly prohibited under Republic Act No. 8749 (Philippine Clean Air Act), which protects our right to clean air and helps reduce air pollution.

It is also prohibited under Republic Act No. 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act), as burning solid waste releases toxic fumes that are harmful to human health and the environment.

In addition, Municipal Ordinance No. 18, Series of 2020, Section 61 (Prohibited Acts), Letter G reinforces this prohibition at the local level, ensuring stricter compliance within our municipality.

Let us all work together in promoting environmental responsibility and safeguarding our future. 🌍💚
