SKILLS THAT SAVE LIVES.
For many people, emergencies can bring fear, panic, and uncertainty. But for the Parent Leaders and 4Ps Staff of the Municipality of Sta. Cruz, the recent 3-Day Standard First Aid and Basic Life Support Training became an opportunity to transform fear into preparedness and knowledge into action.
Conducted by the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO)-Sta. Cruz, from May 5–7, 2026 at the Municipal Multipurpose Hall, Sta. Cruz, the training equipped participants with essential first aid procedures, emergency response techniques, and basic life-saving interventions through discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on activities.
Throughout the training, participants learned how immediate and proper response during critical incidents can help in saving lives. Guided by the LDRRMO staff, they were able to practice and demonstrate the correct procedures in responding to various emergency situations, strengthening not only their skills but also their readiness to assist others in times of need.
For Sunshine Yata, a 4Ps Parent Leader from Barangay Sinoron, the training gave her more than just knowledge—it gave her the confidence to respond calmly when someone needs help.
“Sa akong kasinatian, kung adunay emergency, maratol ko ug basin matampurusan pa nako ang nanginahanglan. Pinaagi ani, nakahibalo ko sa tamang proseso ug pagresponde nga hinaot makaluwas sa tao,” she shared.
Her experience reflects the importance of empowering communities with practical life-saving skills. Through activities like this, participants become more prepared to respond effectively during critical situations within their homes and communities.
Not only did they learn about the proper procedures, but the training also opened their eyes to the realities faced by Disaster Response Teams—recognizing how demanding, time-sensitive, and physically and emotionally challenging their responsibilities can be in real-life situations.
The activity reflects the shared commitment of DSWD and its partners in strengthening preparedness, compassion, and shared responsibility because BAWAT BUHAY AY MAHALAGA.
