The Makati Chamber or Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is a non-stock, non-profit corporation. It was first registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as the Makati Business Federation on January 10, 1975. Its articles of incorporation and by-laws were amended on August 6, 1981 to change its name to Makati Chamber of Commerce and Industry. MCCI is an affiliate of the Philippine Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (PCCI), It is also a member of PCCI-National Capital Region It is the only local chamber recognized by the local government of Makati City, a member of the Makati Business Development Council, Makati Parking Authority, Inc., Makati Environment Foundation and Makati Fire Safety Foundation. Aside from monthly meetings, members also attend the Metro Manila Business Conference during July and the Philippine Business Conference during October. Just last October, MCCI had its first International Trade Mission in Guam, the start of building tie ups with foreign chambers and in November, held its first-ever fund-raiser for its health and education missions in the form of a golf tournament. Members, made up of Makati-based business establishment owners, work closely with the City Government in the formulation of sound, realistic and business-friendly city ordinances. In turn, MCCI assists its members in their official dealings with the city government. Members of the MCCI can avail of PCCI facilities and linkages at the national and international levels in the areas of business and trade promotion, business opportunities, trade fairs and exhibitions and trade missions. One other perk of being a member of MCCI is the APEC Business Travel Card. This card enable its holder to cut through red tape of business travel. It gives accredited business people a pre-cleared entry to 21 participating APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) countries. Card holders enjoy pre-cleared short-term entry to participating countries (no need to individually apply for visas or entry permits). Cards are valid for three years. Corporate membership is open to business enterprises registered with the SEC, Department of Trade and Industry and duly licensed to do business in the City of Makati. Individual membership is open to any entrepreneur conducting his business In the city.
