Courtesy Call to Barangay Merville

The Parañaque City Veterinary Services Office (VSO), together with the Barangay Rabies, Animal Welfare, and Wildlife Responders (RAWWR) from the city's 16 barangays, conducted a Courtesy Call with Barangay Merville under the leadership of Hon. Barangay Chairman Ad Bernabe.

The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between the City Government and the barangay in promoting responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, rabies prevention, and effective enforcement of the City Ordinance No. 23-26, otherwise known as the Veterinary Code of the City of Parañaque.

The following agenda were discussed:

1. Alignment of the City and Barangay Roles and Responsibilities under City Ordinance No. 23-26 to ensure coordinated implementation of veterinary public health and animal welfare programs.

2. Establishment and Status Assessment of the Barangay RAWWR Team, ensuring the organization of the standard six-member team composed of:

◦ 1 Team Leader
◦ 2 Record Keepers
◦ 2 Animal Control and Rescue Officers
◦ 1 Driver

3. Assessment of the Barangay's Temporary Animal Holding Facility, including its current status and readiness to support animal rescue, impounding, and emergency response operations.

4. Recognition and Integration of the Veterinary Services Office–Animal Welfare Volunteers (VSO-AWV) as partners of the Barangay RAWWR in implementing community-based animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and rabies control initiatives.

5. Other Matters, including concerns and recommendations to further strengthen coordination between the City Veterinary Services Office and Barangay Merville.

The City Veterinary Services Office expresses its gratitude to Hon. Chairman Ad Bernabe and the officials of Barangay Merville for their warm welcome, support, and commitment to advancing animal welfare, public health, and responsible pet ownership in the community.
