• It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. • MAYMAY will move generally eastward and may make landfall over Ilocos Norte - Ilocos Sur - La Union area by tonight or tomorrow (06 August) early morning. Afterwards, it will traverse the landmass of Northern and Central Luzon until tomorrow.
• MAYMAY is forecast to remain as a tropical storm as it approaches the Philippine landmass. After making landfall, MAYMAY will weaken into a tropical depression by tomorrow morning and may be downgraded further into a low pressure area by tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. The Office of Civil Defense National Capital Region (OCD NCR), led by Regional Director and MMDRRMC Senior Vice Chairperson George F. Keyser, participated in the 3rd Quarter TANGGUYOB: Convergence of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Thematic Pillars, which served as a platform for strengthening inter-agency coordination, aligning regional priorities, and advancing initiatives toward a more resilient NCR.

Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffino Biazon graced the activity and welcomed the participants. In his message, he underscored the importance of collaboration among national government agencies, local government units, and other stakeholders in enhancing disaster resilience.

During the meeting, Ms. Dorothy Danes of the Policy Development and Planning Section (PDPS) presented the matters arising from the previous Tangguyob meeting. Mr. Marlon Henson Obligado, Chief of PDPS, discussed the Programming of the Special Trust Fund, particularly the provision of financial assistance to LGUs. Meanwhile, Engr. Joel Colobong, Chief of the Operations Section, presented the schedule of ASEAN-related activities and the corresponding resource requirements in preparation for the upcoming events.

In his concluding guidance, RD Keyser emphasized the continued enhancement of the Regional DRRM Plan through harmonized priorities and strengthened coordination mechanisms. He also reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to strengthening local DRRM systems and supporting the welfare and professional development of the DRRM workforce, including the advocacy for the Magna Carta for DRRM Workers.

Tangguyob remains an essential convergence mechanism that reinforces collaboration among the DRRM thematic pillars and partner agencies toward building safer, adaptive, and disaster-resilient communities in NCR.

The center of Tropical Storm MAYMAY was estimated based on all available data at 185 km West Northwest of Bacnotan, La Union (17.4°N, 118.8°E).

Maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 80 km/h, and central pressure of 998 hPa.

Severe Winds

The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.

• Minor to moderate impacts from gale-force winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 2.
• Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1.

The Southwest Monsoon and the periphery of MAYMAY will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):

• Today: Most of Luzon and Visayas, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Misamis Occidental, Misamis Oriental, Agusan del Norte, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Maguindanao del Norte, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.
• Tomorrow (06 August) and Friday (07 August): Most of the country.

24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook
Up to very rough seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 5.0 m: The seaboards of Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan
• Sea travel is risky for all types or tonnage of vessels. All mariners must remain in port or, if underway, seek shelter or safe harbor as soon as possible until winds and waves subside.

Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 3.5 m: The seaboard of northern Zambales.
• Up to 3.0 m: The seaboards of Isabela and Lubang Islands; the northern and eastern seaboards of Batanes and Catanduanes; the western seaboards of Ilocos Norte, Bataan, Cavite, and Batangas; the northern seaboards of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur; the eastern seaboard of Davao Oriental; the remaining seaboard of Zambales.
• Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced of operating ill-equipped vessels.

Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 2.5 m: The remaining seaboard of Batanes; the northern and eastern seaboards of Babuyan Islands, Polillo Islands, and Northern Samar; the northern seaboard of Aurora; the western seaboard of Occidental Mindoro, Calamian Islands, Kalayaan Islands, and northern mainland Palawan; the eastern seaboards of mainland Cagayan, Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, and Dinagat Islands.
• Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Romblon, Masbate including Burias and Ticao Islands, Caluya Islands, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Occidental; the eastern seaboard of Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands; the southern seaboards of Davao Oriental; the western seaboards of mainland Palawan; the remaining seaboards of mainland Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Aurora, Kalayaan Islands; Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon.
• Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.

Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
• It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
• MAYMAY will move generally eastward and may make landfall over Ilocos Sur or La Union by this afternoon or evening. Afterwards, it will traverse the landmass of Northern and Central Luzon until tomorrow (06 August).
• MAYMAY is forecast remain as a tropical storm as it approaches the Philippine landmass. After making landfall, MAYMAY will weaken into a tropical depression by tomorrow morning and may be downgraded further into a low pressure area by tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
