NBDB's 7th Kapihan put the industry in the same room as the agency shaping its incentives. Representing the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) were Ronaldo DC. Buluran (Division Chief, Investment Compliance), Florence S. Lorenzo (Division Chief, Fiscal Incentives), and Investment Specialists Sheryl R. Eresmas and Alyssa Rose SJ. Absalon to walk through what the CREATE MORE Act offers publishers and printers.

Participants used the session to speak plainly about where they stand: many are small and medium-scale operations, and they asked BOI for incentives that meaningfully offset printing and production costs at that level. BOI welcomed the input, sharing that public consultations are ongoing to shape guidelines more responsive to the full range of the industry, from its smallest players to its largest, and that everything raised at the Kapihan now feeds directly into that process.

Direct exchanges like this are what make Kapihan worth holding, with industry concerns reaching the people who can actually act on them.

Some stories arrive like a drizzle. Others drench like a storm.

And for 𝑊ℎ𝑒𝑛 𝐼𝑡 𝑅𝑎𝑖𝑛𝑠, 𝐼𝑡'𝑠 𝐹𝑜𝑢𝑟!, it was both.

Despite the real downpour outside, readers and friends filled THE STACKS at One Ayala with stories and conversations that stayed well past the program. More than a celebration of a new release, the launch was a reminder that every book inspires countless more stories for the next generation of writers and readers.

Day 5 of 𝑃𝑎𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑘: 𝐵𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑁𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝐶𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑇𝑜𝑢𝑟 2026 covered two stops in South Cotabato that demonstrate the growing reach of community-based reading initiatives.

At Koronadal Comprehensive National High School, Book Nook Marbel coordinator Jepte Dagum, together with school staff and faculty members, welcomed the team for a site visit. Together, they reviewed the collection's condition and discussed upkeep practices, then explained how the site can qualify for a booster package of additional titles.

In Sto. Niño, the delegation visited 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐤, a library café set to join the Book Nook Program. Unlike other Book Nook locations usually hosted in schools or local government facilities, the café represents an emerging community-based model, which the owner and local author Elaine Joy Edaya Degale built so that books, conversations, and creativity can naturally come together.

Caren Carlos Tordesillas launched her first children's book, 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚'𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐞𝐬, last August 1 at Santuario de San Antonio, Forbes Park, with NBDB represented by Josh Vicente of the Communications and Promotions Section.

The book traces back to her daughter Clea's three months in the NICU after a premature birth, and the lesser-known saints whose intercession the family turned to throughout. Caren began writing as a way of processing that season. What she ended up with, illustrated by Ito Chua, is a children's book that introduces those same saints to a much younger reader.

For a first-time author and NBDB-registered publisher, it was a debut built from one of the hardest chapters of her family's life, offered now to other families who may be living through their own.
