AFP Hosts COA Entrance Conference for 2026 Audit

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) hosted the Commission on Audit (COA) for the 2026 COA Entrance Conference on September 17 here, marking the formal commencement of the annual audit engagement and reaffirming the AFP’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound financial management.

The conference was presided over by AFP Chief of Staff General Antonio G. Nafarrete and Ms. Norina Rose L. Yao, OIC-Supervising Auditor, Audit Group F-GHQ, AFP. During the conference, the COA audit team presented the objectives, scope and timeline of the 2026 audit, as well as the documentary requirements and records to be examined during the review.

In his message, General Nafarrete underscored the AFP’s responsibility as steward of the resources entrusted by the Filipino people. “Every peso entrusted to the AFP represents the trust of the Filipino people. We are accountable not only for complying with the rules that govern the use of public funds, but for ensuring that every resource is used responsibly and for the purposes for which they were provided,” he said.

Through its continued engagement with COA, the AFP reaffirms its commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance in the stewardship of the Filipino people’s resources.

IN THE NEWS | Nearly 160 responders sharpen disaster skills in Pacific Partnership

Nearly 160 personnel from Philippine government agencies, military units and emergency response organizations joined search-and-rescue and hazardous materials training in Eastern Visayas under Pacific Partnership 2026.

A total of 79 personnel participated in Urban Search and Rescue training that began 14 September in Tacloban City, aimed at improving technical skills and coordination during disasters and other emergencies.

6 suspected BIFF fighters killed in SGA-BARMM clash with gov't troops
COTABATO CITY — Six armed men linked to the outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) were killed Saturday in a law enforcement operation in Barangay Balong in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The Philippine National Police, backed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, launched an operation to serve arrest warrants against BIFF commander Zoren of the Bungos faction, who is facing carnapping and homicide cases.
