At only 24 years old, General Gregorio del Pilar earned his place in history as one of the youngest generals of the Philippine Revolutionary Army. Affectionately remembered as the "Boy General," he demonstrated exceptional bravery during the Philippine Revolution and the Philippine-American War, inspiring those who served alongside him.

On December 2, 1899, General del Pilar led a small force in the Battle of Tirad Pass, where he made the ultimate sacrifice while delaying advancing enemy troops. His courageous stand provided valuable time for Emilio Aguinaldo and the revolutionary government to continue their withdrawal, cementing his place as one of the nation's enduring military heroes.

His legacy continues to inspire generations of Filipino servicemen and women, reminding us that true leadership is defined not by age, but by unwavering dedication to duty, honor, and country.

AFP Strengthens Leadership Through J8 Change of Office Ceremony

The Armed Forces of the Philippines formally conducted the Change of Chief of Office Ceremony for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training, J8, at the Firing Range Function Hall on August 4.

Lieutenant General Edmundo G. Peralta PA, Deputy Chief of Staff AFP, presided over the ceremony. The activity recognized the dedicated service of Major General Arsenio DC Sadural PA as the outgoing Deputy Chief of Staff for Education and Training, J8, and the assumption of leadership by the incoming Acting Chief of Office, Brigadier General Glenn Joy U Aynera PA.

Lieutenant General Peralta underscored the importance of leadership continuity, professionalism, and excellence in military education and training. He also expressed confidence in Brigadier General Aynera to sustain the organization's gains while commending Major General Sadural's dedicated service in advancing the AFP's education and training programs.

The leadership transition reaffirmed the AFP's commitment to strengthening its education and training system by fostering competent, values-driven, and mission-ready personnel.///

AFP Honors Capt Venus Gualdaquever's dedicated service in Retirement Ceremony

The Armed Forces of the Philippines honored the distinguished military service of Captain Venus G. Gualdaquever PN during her retirement ceremony held at Tejeros Hall, AFP Commissioned Officers Country Club on July 31.

Commodore Ramilo B. Trinidad PN, Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, AJ1 served as the Presiding Officer of the ceremony. The said activity recognized Captain Gualdaquever's years of faithful and dedicated service as the former Chief, AFP Gender and Development Office.

"Lead with an open heart and serve without pride. Strength without understanding is merely brute force. Authority without true commitment is hollow," Captain Gualdaquever reminded fellow service members that genuine leadership is measured not only by authority but by integrity, commitment, and sincere service to others.

Commodore Trinidad commended Captain Gualdaquever for her invaluable contributions and reaffirmed the AFP’s commitment to cultivating competent and values-driven personnel.///
