QUEZON CITY— On August 13, 2026, three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and a local worker separately received their monetary awards by way of settlement facilitated by the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) National Capital Region Arbitration Branch (NCRAB).

Labor Arbiter Salvador C. Alcuino, with the assistance of his Labor Arbitration Associate Francis T. Flotildes and Stenographic Reporter Marck T. Foster of the NCRAB Branch No. 9, successfully concluded the conciliation-mediation proceedings in these four separate labor cases, with settlement amounting to Php1,929,000.00.

The first case involved a seafarer and a maritime company. Both parties mutually agreed to settle in the amount of Php1,209,000.00 representing the seafarer’s monetary claims.

Another seafarer received the offer of settlement of Php600,000.00 from his maritime company, thereby ending their labor dispute.

The third case involved a land based OFW who received the offer of Php100,000.00 from her agency.

The last case involved a food and beverage industry and a food service personnel who, after discussion with the company, agreed to compromise for the amount Php20,000.00.
The successful settlement of these four cases highlights the Commission’s mandate to provide efficient, fair, and accessible dispute settlement mechanisms for workers and employers.

QUEZON CITY—On September 7, 2026, the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) recognized nine retired officials and personnel for their dedicated government service.
Executive Labor Arbiter Hon. Nelia Q. Tancio-Sedillo of Regional Arbitration Branch (RAB) XI led the honorees with her 36 years in service. She joined the recognition ceremony online. Three Labor Arbitration Associates, and five administrative staff from the Main Office, National Capital Regional Arbitration Branch (NCRAB), and RABs IV, VI, XI, and XIII were also commended during the awarding.

BUTUAN CITY—On July 28, 2026, Labor Arbiter Vanessa G. Revamonte-Vegafria of Regional Arbitration Branch No. XIII moderated the settlement proceedings of the labor disputes of seven (7) security guards which led to the release of Php1.9M judgment award to these security guards. This amount covers their backwages and separation pay.

The NLRC headed by Chairperson Grace E. Maniquiz-Tan reminds the Regional Arbitration Branches and the Commission to monitor and ensure the prompt enforcement and satisfaction of decisions and judgment awards.

DAVAO CITY— The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) Regional Arbitration Branch XI successfully assisted the mediation of the labor claims of nineteen (19) workers in six separate labor cases. A total settlement amount of Php667,031.56 was distributed to the 19 workers based on their individual and separate claims.

During the mandatory conciliation-mediation facilitated by Executive Labor Arbiter Rommel L. Galicia of RAB XI Branch 3, the respondent company voluntarily paid the amount of Php70,000.00 representing the complainant’s separation pay, Service Incentive Leave, salaries and attorney’s fees.

Another case mediated by ELA Galicia involved a mechanic and a transportation company. The complainant received the amount of Php70,000.00 which covers his salaries, overtime pay, holiday pay, premium pay for holiday and rest day, separation pay and attorney’s fees.

The last labor dispute assisted by the Office of ELA Galicia involved a farm supervisor and an agriculture company. As settlement for the complainant worker’s retirement benefits and attorney’s fees, the respondent company agreed to pay the amount of Php7,778.50.

On the other hand, Labor Arbiter Arnold G. Larena of Branch 5 conciliated the labor dispute between a coordinator and a trucking and storage company. Both parties agreed to settle their dispute in the amount of Php100,000.00 representing the worker’s separation pay and attorney’s fees.

LA Larena also handled the mandatory settlement of an OFW case. Both parties mutually agreed to settle in the amount of Php50,000.00 as payment of the complainant’s overtime pay and attorney’s fees.

Meanwhile, Labor Arbiter Rovyne G. Jumao-as of Branch 2 assisted 14 helpers to settle their dispute with their retail company. The 14 complainants received the amount of Php369,253.06 in total representing their holiday pay, Service Incentive Leave, and 13th month pay.

With these settlements, the NLRC continues to affirm its mandate of resolving labor disputes through alternative dispute resolution. This is in line with the Department of Labor and Employment’s commitment to help workers settle disputes swiftly and fairly.

QUEZON CITY—The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) convened a Special En Banc Session on August 27, 2026 in line with its continuing institutional reforms and policy development towards strengthening the labor justice system.

The discussions centered on the development of guidelines on the resolution of labor cases involving purely money claims, enforcement of writs issued by voluntary arbitrators, filling up of vacant Labor Arbiter positions, and the proposal for the creation of a pool of Labor Arbiters for the resolution of maritime cases.

The Special En Banc Session served as a venue for NLRC officials and personnel to discuss other administrative and policy issues to enhance services across all Divisions and Regional Arbitration Branches.

The En Banc also welcomed newly appointed Presiding Commissioner Shemidah G. Cadiz and Commissioner Alfred Taay Pagayatan of the NLRC Third Division. Both officials expressed their gratitude for the privilege of serving at the NLRC and looked forward to working closely with their colleagues.

In her message, Chairperson Grace E. Maniquiz-Tan gave her full support to the new Presiding Commissioner and Commissioner, and underscored the importance of integrity, efficiency, and truthfulness both in public service and as a way of life.

The NLRC remains steadfast in its mandate for effective and speedy disposition of cases. Under the leadership of Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Francis N. Tolentino and Chairperson Maniquiz-Tan, the Commission reaffirms its institutional commitment to good governance, innovation, and justice.
