PEACEFUL TRILLION PESO MARCH MARKS 40TH EDSA ANNIVERSARY
The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief PNP, reported that the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution yesterday, including the so-called Trillion Peso March Rally, proceeded peacefully, with no untoward incidents recorded.”.
Monitoring operations confirmed several assemblies conducted in various areas, including EDSA Shrine, Robinsons Galleria, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of the Philippines Diliman, Ermita Manila, and other locations such as Intramuros Manila and Pureza Street.
An estimated 8,750 participants joined various peaceful activities nationwide. In response, the PNP deployed 14,000 personnel to oversee security and monitoring operations, in line with the directive of the Chief PNP to uphold constitutional rights and ensure the orderly conduct of all activities.
PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. reiterated:“Ginagalang ng PNP ang karapatan ng bawat mamamayan na magtipon at magpahayag nang mapayapa. Ang aming tungkulin ay tiyakin na ang mga aktibidad ay isinasagawa nang maayos at walang gulo. Maximum tolerance at professionalism ang ating laging pinaiiral.”
PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. expressed gratitude to all police personnel for their dedication and professionalism, as well as to partner agencies and local government units for their cooperation in ensuring a safe and orderly commemoration.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa ating mga pulis na nagbantay at nagpatupad ng batas nang may disiplina at malasakit. Salamat rin sa lahat ng ating partner agencies at local government units na tumulong upang maging maayos at mapayapa ang ating mga monitoring activities,” he said.
The overall assessment underscores respect for democratic expression and the successful coordination of security efforts. The PNP remains committed to protecting the rights of the public while maintaining peace and order under the principle of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
