Ang Tropical Depression NENENG ay bumibilis ang pagkilos habang nasa coastal waters ng Eastern Taiwan.

Lokasyon (4:00 AM):
390 km Hilaga ng Itbayat, Batanes
(24.3°N, 121.9°E)

Lakas ng Hangin:
• Maximum sustained winds: 45 km/h
• Bugso ng hangin: hanggang 55 km/h
• Central pressure: 1004 hPa

Pagkilos:
West Northwestward sa bilis na 30 km/h

Lawak ng Hangin:
Umaabot hanggang 420 km mula sa sentro.

TCWS:
Walang nakataas na Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal.

Pangunahing Bantang Panahon:
Patuloy na magdadala ang Habagat ng malalakas hanggang gale-force na bugso ng hangin sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon at Visayas, pati ilang bahagi ng Mindanao.

Kalagayan ng Karagatan:
Maaaring umabot sa 3.5 metro ang taas ng alon sa Batanes at hanggang 3.0 metro sa Ilocos Sur, La Union at Zambales. Pinapayuhan ang mga maliliit na sasakyang-pandagat na mag-ingat at, kung maaari, iwasang pumalaot.

LOKASYON:
375 km Hilagang-Silangan ng Itbayat, Batanes
(23.2°N, 124.4°E)

LAKAS:
Pinakamalakas na hangin: 45 km/h
Pagbugso: hanggang 55 km/h
Ang malalakas na hangin ay umaabot hanggang 420 km mula sa sentro.

GALAW:
Pakanluran-hilagang-kanluran sa bilis na 35 km/h.

EPEKTO SA ILOCOS REGION

Bagama’t patuloy na humihina si NENENG, maaari pa rin nitong maapektuhan ang Ilocos Region sa pamamagitan ng Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Asahan ang malalakas na ulan at bugso ng hangin, lalo na sa mga baybaying at bulubunduking lugar.

KARAGATAN:
• Ilocos Norte: maaaring umabot sa 3.5 metro ang taas ng alon.
• Ilocos Sur at La Union: maaaring umabot sa 3.0 metro ang taas ng alon.
• Pinapayuhan ang mga gumagamit ng motorbanca at maliliit na sasakyang-dagat na mag-ingat at, kung maaari, iwasang pumalaot.

• Kung magmamaneho, mag-ingat sa lubak at madudulas na kalsada.

NANANATILI ANG LAKAS NI NENENG habang patuloy itong kumikilos pahilagang-kanluran sa karagatan sa silangan ng Southern Taiwan.

LOKASYON:
530 km Silangan-Hilagang-Silangan ng Itbayat, Batanes
(22.6°N, 126.6°E)

LAKAS:
May pinakamalakas na hanging 55 km/h malapit sa sentro, na may pagbugso hanggang 70 km/h. Ang malalakas na hangin ay umaabot hanggang 380 km mula sa sentro.

GALAW:
Kumikilos pahilagang-kanluran sa bilis na 30 km/h.

EPEKTO SA ILOCOS REGION

Bagama’t malayo sa Ilocos Region ang sentro ni Tropical Depression NENENG, maaari nitong palakasin ang Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) na magdudulot ng patuloy na pag-ulan at malalakas na bugso ng hangin sa rehiyon.

KARAGATAN:
Maaaring umabot sa 3.0 metro ang taas ng alon sa mga baybayin ng Ilocos Sur at La Union. Pinapayuhan ang mga gumagamit ng motorbanca at maliliit na sasakyang-dagat na mag-ingat at, kung maaari, iwasang pumalaot.

THE LOW PRESSURE AREA EAST OF EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON DEVELOPED INTO TROPICAL DEPRESSION NENENG.

• Location of Center (4:00 PM)
The center of Tropical Depression NENENG was estimated based on all available data at 1,025 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (20.4°N, 131.8°E).
• Intensity
Maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and central pressure of 1002 hPa
• Present Movement
Northwestward at 20 km/h
• Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds
Strong winds extend outwards up to 380 km from the center

Severe Winds
The enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):
• Today (18 August): Most of the country.
• Tomorrow (19 August): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region.
• Thursday (20 August): Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region.
HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS
24-Hour Sea Condition Outlook

Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 3.5 m: The seaboards of Zambales and Lubang Islands; the western seaboards of Pangasinan and Bataan.
• Up to 3.0 m: The seaboards of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Kalayaan Islands; the western seaboards of Babuyan Islands, Occidental Mindoro, Calamian Islands, northern Palawan, and Davao Oriental.
• Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.

Up to moderate seas over the following coastal waters:
• Up to 2.5 m: The seaboards of La Union and Surigao del Sur; the western seaboards of Batanes, Cavite, Batangas, and mainland Palawan.
• Up to 2.0 m: The seaboards of Isabela, northern Aurora, Romblon, Cuyo Islands, Cagayancillo Islands, Antique, and Davao Occidental; the northern seaboards of Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur; the northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes and northern Samar; the eastern seaboards of Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Siargao-Bucas Grande Islands; the southern seaboards of Marinduque, Quezon, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Davao Oriental; the western seaboard of Negros Occidental; the remaining seaboards of Batanes, Pangasinan, Calamian Islands, and northern Palawan.
• Mariners of motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.
Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.

TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
• It must be emphasized that heavy rainfall and severe winds may still be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone. Refer to “Other Hazards affecting Land Areas” for more details. Furthermore, the track may still shift within the limit of the forecast confidence cone.
• NENENG will continue moving generally west northwestward throughout the forecast period. This tropical cyclone is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass.
• NENENG is expected to be a short-lived tropical cyclone and is forecast to remain a tropical depression throughout the forecast period before weakening into a remnant low over Taiwan on Thursday (20 August).

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.

The next tropical cyclone bulletin will be issued at 11:00 PM today.

As of 2:00 PM today, 18 August 2026, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 08f) developed into a Tropical Depression and was named NENENG and is being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Another Low Pressure Area (LPA 08g) is being monitored outside the PAR and has a “HIGH” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, another Tropical Depression is being monitored outside the PAR.

All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA.
