𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐚, 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧!

The first Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCeN) in MIMAROPA was officially launched on August 17, 2026, at Western Philippines University–Puerto Princesa Campus, marking another major step in bringing advanced manufacturing technologies closer to the regions.

The milestone was witnessed by DOST Assistant Secretary for Development Cooperation Rodolfo Calzado Jr., DOST-MIRDC Executive Director Robert O. Dizon, WPU President Dr. Amabel Liao, DOST MIMAROPA Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations Engr. Jerry Mercado, and DOST Palawan Provincial Director Engr. Pacifico “Pyke” Sariego III.

As the 16th of 18 AMCen Regional Laboratories nationwide, the facility opens new opportunities for students, researchers, entrepreneurs, MSMEs, industries, and local communities to transform ideas into real-world innovations through 3D printing, product development, prototyping, research, and training.

⚙️ Sixteen laboratories launched. Two more to go!

Cebu, you brought amazing energy to our latest "Introduction to Additive Manufacturing" training last August 13, 2026! During this action-packed day at the DOST VII Regional Office, we teamed up with the ICCP Group Foundation Inc. and Unilab Foundation to bring the future of 3D printing right to your fingertips. We were especially thrilled to welcome an amazing group of participants, all from the Cebu Light Industrial Park!".

From diving deep into the fundamentals of additive manufacturing to getting hands-on with desktop 3D printers and slicing software, it was incredible to watch everyone learn how to turn digital designs into reality. We even capped off the session with an exclusive tour of the DOST VII facilities and the AMCen Regional Laboratory!

The best part? This is just step one of the QuEST for WorkDev initiative. A huge congratulations to everyone who participated we are already looking forward to inviting our top performers to the upcoming advanced training program! Keep innovating, and we'll see you at the next one! ⚙✨

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝟯𝗗-𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗻!

History and innovation are coming together in Dapitan City.

On August 12, 2026, DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC), DOST Region IX, and the City Government of Dapitan officially marked the groundbreaking of the “Rizal El Dapitanon” Project at the Rotonda in Barangay Lawaan, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Under the Development of the Advanced 3D Infrastructure for Tourism, Art, and Nationalism (DAPITAN) Project, advanced manufacturing technologies including digital modeling, hybrid manufacturing, and large-scale 3D printing are being harnessed to bring an extraordinary vision to life: the world’s tallest 3D-printed Rizal monument.

Rising 46 feet, the monument will become a new landmark in Dapitan’s tourism and heritage landscape, celebrating the legacy of Dr. Jose P. Rizal in the very city where he spent four transformative years in exile. Here, Rizal practiced medicine, taught the youth, pursued scientific studies, developed agriculture and infrastructure, and devoted himself to serving the community.

More than a monument, this project represents what is possible when Filipino heritage meets Filipino innovation.

It showcases how additive manufacturing can go beyond industrial applications and create meaningful contributions to culture, tourism, public spaces, and national identity—proving that advanced technology can help preserve the past while shaping the future.

Through this collaboration, DOST-MIRDC, DOST Region IX, and the City Government of Dapitan are demonstrating that innovation is not only about creating what is new, but also about finding new ways to honor what matters.

𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕!

The DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC), through the Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMCen), warmly welcomed representatives from Knowles Electronics (Philippines) Corporation (KEP) of Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, for the culminating activity of their R&D collaboration on August 11, 2026 at Advanced Manufacturing Center, DOST MIRDC Compound, Bicutan, Taguig City.

The collaboration was made possible through the support of DOST Regional Office VII and the DOST-GIA-funded project, Technology Readiness and Innovation through Advanced Manufacturing in the Philippines (TRIAMPH).

The activity highlighted the potential of additive manufacturing (AM) in developing practical, innovative, and industry-responsive solutions to longstanding manufacturing challenges. Through the collaboration of researchers, technical experts, and industry partners, the project demonstrated how research and advanced manufacturing technologies can be translated into solutions with real-world industrial applications.

During the program, researchers and industry partners shared the journey of the collaboration—from identifying the manufacturing challenge and exploring potential solutions to developing, implementing, and evaluating the resulting technology. Representatives from the management of both DOST-MIRDC and KEP likewise shared their insights and experiences on the value of research and development collaboration and government-industry partnerships.

This collaboration demonstrates how bringing government, research institutions, and industry together can transform ideas and research into high-impact, results-driven solutions—addressing real-world challenges, strengthening local manufacturing capabilities, and contributing to a more innovative, resilient, and competitive Philippine industry.

‎The 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 (𝗔𝗠𝗖𝗲𝗻), the Philippines’ premier research and development facility for additive manufacturing, commonly known as 3D printing, is soon to launch in Bicol. Co-implemented by DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) and DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI), AMCen serves as a technological hub for product prototyping, materials development, research, training, and other advanced manufacturing applications.
