Taylor Alliance for Prevention You can be instrumental in reducing youth substance abuse and related accidents and injuries.

Taylor Alliance for Prevention (TAP) is a volunteer-led coalition whose aim is to implement environmental strategies and policy changes to reduce substance use in the communities within Taylor County.

(1) Increasing community awareness of the legal and health consequences of substance abuse;

In 2024, The Texas School Survey of Texas Drug and Alcohol use for Region 2 reports:

Between the Grades 7-12;
B**r (13.1 %) and Liquor (12.2) are the most used within the school year.

Of any alcohol usage 53.3 % of ALL grades never used for the year of 2024!

Remember to say NO to underage drinking.
Even if your friends are doing it - does not mean everyone is!

Texas Health and humam services mentions there are over 31 Hazardous chemicals in E Vapes.

Benzene- is classified as a carcinogen, meaning with
long term exposure it can be linked to leukemia and other blood related cancers. Due to its toxicity, benzene use is strictly regulated, and exposure should be minimized.

Acetone- inhalation in large amounts may lead to acetone poisoning, affecting the kidneys, liver, brain, and nervous system

Formaldehyde- classified as a Group 1 carcinogen,
Exposure can cause respiratory and skin irritation, and high levels are linked to rare cancers of the nose, throat, and lungs. Chronic inhalation of formaldehyde has been linked to nasopharyngeal cancer and other cancers.

A significant gender disparity exists, with female high school students (30%) being more than twice as likely as male students (14.3%) to consider su***de.

LGBTQ+ adolescents are at a disproportionately high risk, with nearly half (46%) having seriously considered su***de in the past year.46%

Frequent social media use is linked to a 21% higher prevalence of suicidal ideation and increased exposure to cyberbullying.21%

A major treatment gap persists, as only about half of adolescents who need mental health services actually receive them.50%

School-based programs and integrated care models are effective, capable of reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms by over 20% compared to no treatment.>20%
