This week at the CIT International Conference, ADM Board Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Doug Smith presented "From CIT to Mobile Crisis Outreach: A Natural Progression" with Brianna Day (Portage Path Behavioral Health) and Sgt. James Donohue (Akron Police Department).

They highlighted SCOUT (Summit County Outreach Team), which is an innovative co-response model uniting a clinician, a CIT-trained officer, and a CIT-trained paramedic/firefighter to deliver real-time care in the field. The SCOUT Team handled over 1,000 calls in their first year and have recently expanded hours into the evening and on Saturdays.

We appreciate Dr. Smith, Brianna Day, and Sgt. Donohue for representing Summit County and highlighting the impressive work of the SCOUT team on the international stage!

Strong, healthy communities are built on relationships, safety, and mutual support. We loved getting to meet so many of our neighbors, chat about local mental health and addiction resources, and celebrate the people who make Summit County home.
Thank you to all the city leaders, neighborhood organizers, first responders, and community members who welcomed us!
