We loved connecting with everyone at the ADM Recovery Challenge!

Our Supervisor of Advocacy Services – Main St., Ripley, and Director of Services, Chelsea, were there sharing resources and support, while our Assistant Director of Services – Advocacy, Zach, ran the 5K!

We’re grateful to be part of a community that celebrates resilience, wellness, and connection.

Our Director of Grants & Outreach, Kim Laurene, attended Bath Volunteers for Service's 48th Tour of Distinctive Homes Watch Party Brunch in May.

VAP was proud to be one of several nonprofits invited to host an outreach table, giving us the opportunity to connect with guests and share more about our services and impact in the community.

Thank you to Bath Volunteers for Service for including us. We appreciate the chance to be part of such a meaningful event!

Join us in celebrating our Victim Advocate P.J. on her recent graduation from the Akron Police Citizen’s Academy! 🎉

This eight-week, hands-on program offers participants an in-depth look at the Akron Police Department, including training in de-escalation, use of force, crime scene investigations, first aid, and specialized units like SWAT and K-9. Through interactive scenarios and learning opportunities, participants gain a deeper understanding of law enforcement and community safety.

We’re proud of P.J. for taking part in this impactful experience and for her continued commitment to strengthening connections across Summit County.

VAP participated in the Summit County Prosecutor's Office’s Citizens Academy! Our Director of Services, Chelsea Robertson, and Assistant Director of Services – Advocacy, Zachary Gilgenbach, shared how we support victims in the Domestic Relations Court, including helping with filing paperwork and reducing the barrier of bringing children to court through our Children Who Witness Violence Drop-In Center. We’re also proud that our Stow-based Victim Advocate, Megan, was part of this year’s Academy. We always value the opportunity to share our services and connect with our community.

A little appreciation goes a long way! The ADM Board staff wanted to share a small token of gratitude with our Circle of Hope members and thank them for their incredible hard work throughout Summit County.

We dropped off workforce development books and writing notebooks for staff members of Victim Assistance Program of Summit County to enjoy. Inside each of the notebooks, there is a thank you note as well as more information on our workforce development efforts.

Again, thank you to the Victim Assistance Program for being a proud partner of the ADM Board’s Circle of Hope.

Our VAP staff had a wonderful time attending the Two Days in May Conference in Columbus, where nearly 1,000 victim advocates, social workers, and law enforcement professionals came together to learn, share, and grow. Our Director of Education, Shelley Blundell, Essentials Coordinator, Dana Zedak, and advocates Kylie Gaddis and Sondra Jordan appreciated the opportunity to connect with others who are equally passionate about supporting victims. Experiences like this help strengthen our work and ensure we continue providing trauma-informed care to those we serve.

Our Supervisor of Advocacy Services– Main Street, Ripley Villers, and Senior Victim Advocate, Makayla, had a great time attending the Cookout and Connect Resource Fair for Mental Health Awareness Month event hosted by Oriana House & Rigel Recovery Services. Providers from across the community shared valuable resources and support options. We always appreciate opportunities like this to connect, collaborate, and raise awareness about victim services in Summit County.
